Hi all. - can some tell me what the specs are for replacement limit switches? Would the one in the picture work? 5A 30VDC? I will have to devise a way to make whatever i dind fit my original bracket.
Someone gave me a tip that i had not thought about. Just make a jumper wire to bypass the thermal breaker. I did that and the motor still doesnt work for more than a couple of seconds. So i shipped to Topher today!!! :) Good guy to talk to.
Hi Guys - one of my headlight motor’s run for two seconds and then it starts arcing between the contacts and motor shuts off. I have to wait a few minutes then it will work again for a couple of seconds then shuts off again. Its not the ground wire because i fixed that already.
Do you think it...
Thanks for this. I soldered the strap to the rivet AND i used a piece of 14 gauge wire and created a whole new ground wire. This motor now runs awesome. This was the worst of my two. I also did this to my other motor and it did not solve the problem.
Hi Guys - i found my first problem. The ground (circled in red) here is not good. It got really hot and i saw some arcing. Do you know what this type of rivet this is called? I want to grind this one out and install a new one. The thermal breaker is what it is connected to.
If i cant find a...
The black wire is connected to stator windings one one side and the other side of black wire is connected to a brush assembly.
Regarding the last two pics below… are they the “thermal breaker” you asked about? The look like points in an ignition distributor.
Twecommm-
Yes i did test it on a bench and it would only run in the “opening” direction. When i tried the other lead, “closing” direction, it just locks up.
After inspecting and cleaning, i then tried to run it with top half of the case off, and it would run in both directions but would lock...
Thanks for the help. Nothing looked burned broken. Are windings something that go bad? Or break internally? All solder connections appeared really good. Any tips on what to check for before i decide to send it out to someone to just re-wind everything? Appreciate any thoughts
Hi -
My headlight motors do not work as they should. The motor will only rotate in one-direction. So I am trying to take apart and see what the problem is.
Step 1 - I melted/removed the hard rubber adhesive that holds the two halves of motor housing together.
Step 2 - I removed the "snap-ring"...
