Core Supports, Radiators and Fan Shrouds on a '73 Road Runner

Thanks. I actually took the original to a local radiator shop who has been known for good work in the area for many years. He didn’t recore it but he flushed it out and did whatever else he thought it needed. It’s leaked at the upper hose inlet joint ever since. I am kinda at the point...

Core Supports, Radiators and Fan Shrouds on a '73 Road Runner

My '73 small block RR was ordered with N51 Maximum Cooling so it has the 28" radiator (P/N 3673028) in it. I want to replace it with a new radiator but so far, I haven't found a direct fit replacement. I am thinking to just go with an aluminum 26" model, but I am wondering what changes between...

‘73 RR 3 spd manual to 4 spd are you sure?

@scottyv here is a pic I found showing the factory 3 spd set up from my car with bucket seats but no console and a 4spd with bucket seats. Hope it helps.

‘73 RR 3 spd manual to 4 spd are you sure?

It is packed away with all the other take off parts. I’ll see if I can get to it.

    Purge/bleed power steering system

Good info. I bet that “spin the engine without coil connected” process would have saved me some grief.

    Purge/bleed power steering system

I took the cap off to watch what was happening and saw the pump was picking all the fluid into the system and emptying the reservoir. When I shut the engine off all the fluid rushes back into the reservoir and over flowed. I took a chance and added fluid with a long funnel while it was...

    Purge/bleed power steering system

It’s Prestone brand power steering fluid. Says it’s compatible with all types and manufacturers.

    Purge/bleed power steering system

No, I had the tires on pieces of cardboard on concrete shop floor. I’m going to do the lock to lock process again and will jack up the front end.

    Purge/bleed power steering system

I put a new power steering gear, pump and lines on my ‘73 Road Runner. I added fluid and started the engine then shut it off to check the fluid level. I added some and I guess put too much in. Then I started the engine and did the turn it lock to lock to try and purge the air out. I turned...

    Ignition wiring help with HEI

No ballast resistor required and the primary resistance of the coil matches what the HEI is looking for.

    Ignition wiring help with HEI

It must have been the lag through the relay. When I jumped from the choke wire to the coil positive it started right up. Thanks guys for your input.

    Ignition wiring help with HEI

The coil is an MSD Blaster 2 8202 which was reccomended by BluePrint. By connecting both the 22 and 23 circuits to the coil positive I have effectively tied the run and start circuits together into the coil. Maybe the lag is in the relay? I’m going to try a jumper from the choke wire (blue...

    Ignition wiring help with HEI

I have a crate 408" magnum stroker from BluePrint. The car is a 1973 Road Runner. The engine came with an external coil HEI style ignition. Knowing I would not need the ballast resistor or the electronic ignition box I decided to make a new wiring harness and not cut up the factory one...

    Doug’s Headers application frustration

Just for anyone wondering, the Doug’s D453 fit great. Driver side went on with no problem; I had to trim a casting nub off the bell housing on the passenger side. Car was up off the ground about 12” and I lifted the engine out of the mounts about 2”.
