    Took the Plunge EV

I would like to drive one. Most likely will not buy a different car, not because I am against electric cars but at my age, I see what I currently own lasting me until I die. My buddy bought a Tesla Plaid and another buddy has a Demon, I have driven both cars both are awesome from a performance...

    318 Cam Suggestions

as others mentioned when picking a camshaft cranking compression is important. As the duration increases the dynamic or cranking compression goes down, too much duration on a low compression engine and you get a pig. I have been using hydraulic roller cams because you can go with a shorter...

    440 , rebuild or use

I have been building engines a long time, the B and RB engines have very little trouble with head gaskets leaking, make sure deck and heads are straight. And may sound simplistic but also check your torque wrench that it is accurate.

Oscilloscope - no idea how to use it !

I taught automotive at a technical college for many years. The Pico scope was the quickest for the students to learn with. I have used ignition scopes since the late 70's I still use one today and many times on my dyno when an engine doesn't run right a scope quickly diagnoses if the issue is...

Its easy to forget how nice these old cars cruise.

While I love driving my old cars, nothing beats the ride and handling of my common 2010 V-6 dodge challenger which gets 29MPG on the highway. Four-wheel independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, plus a lot better road feel power steering. tried to make it look like a TA challenger. I...

Has anyone had homeowners insurance cancelled?

Last year my local small company Drake-Beemont doubled my homeowners, we had a bad hailstorm in the area. I did not have any damage. When I went looking for cheaper insurance could not find any, mainly because they would not insure my home for what Drake-Beemont did, they said it was worth...

    Rich kid cars.

I graduated high school in 1974, So my generation was affected by rising insurance costs and oil prices. I also live in a rural area and most of the rich kids got newer kind of boring cars. Muscle cars got super cheap, and the school parking lot was full of muscle cars, and Saturday nights on...

Tri power carbs on 440 six barrel?

Never tried the GM carbs, but what I did one time was take a band saw and trim three Ford Autolite two-barrel carbs and they worked great. Mainly because all three had accelerator pumps, and power valves, very smooth no stumble at all. I did it on a 340 sixpack manifold. Used mechanical...

A couple big decisions on my road runner restoration - help me decide.

Do what you want with the car unless you think 100% stock restoration makes it worth a bunch more. I worked at a dealership in 1976 to 1982 and I was the guy who put on running boards installed stereos, and all kinds of aftermarket stuff on new cars. Heck a couple times I changed the interiors...

Water pump bolt broke/stuck into the block. Any ideas how to extract it?

I have removed a bunch of broken bolts in my time; the wax and welding tricks are both good methods. But I just about guess the bolt broke because the threads are corroded in the water jacket. When I decide on a method to remove a broken bolt, I never limit myself to one method. I would...

Best way to replace leaf springs?

Jus t support the car by the frame. The issue that usually plagues me is the bolts in the front of the springs. When you take them loose the steel sleeve in the busing is rusted to the bolt so you can't remove it. I have found easiest way is to take a saws-all with a metal blade and cut the...

    Ultra sonic cleaners

I bought one as well, been using it for 3 years only issue is the plastic covering the buttons is starting to crack, but they still work. Use it for carbs and engine small parts. found the Totally Awesome cleaner works very well for a reasonable price. cleans a carb in about 15 minutes. Buy...

    Need Input On 360 Build

well only thing I will say is don't use a flat tappet camshaft, they go flat more than not. The duration and center line of the cam you picked is good for your application, but you can convert to a hydraulic roller and with the same duration get over .500 lift and pick up about 40 ft lbs of...

    Afr gauge

With the engine running simply give it a shot of carb cleaner, don't kill the engine, the gage should spike rich briefly if working correctly. any exhaust leaks that let in fresh air before the gauge will mess the readings up.
