Back at it, more fun stuff . . . cleaning parts. Step 1 - clean off oil, grease & dirt. Step 2 - remove old paint with paint remover. Step 3 - soak parts in my vinnegar, lemon juice & salt soup.
Upper control arms before -
And after - now ready for new bushings, ball joints and fresh paint -
As you can see in the pictures the control arms, spindles & struts are all painted black. So somebody was in here previously. I'm pretty sure it was my dad, he was a penny pincher so he probably only replaced what was needed, usually the bushings and lower ball joints & maybe a couple tie rod...
A little cleanup on the drivers side
This is the idler arm off the car, there are no grease fittings. Could this be the original? Unbelievably it is still very tight too!
You probably guesed that I will also be rebuilding the front suspension also, hoping to get it done for Fall so I can drive it!
