Not sure how much this helps. I'll try to get more info on the engine. If I'm correct pre 72 440s had more horsepower than the latter ones because of the fuel crisis.
Didn't think about the torsion bars. My idea was to use everything I can. So it may have crossed my mind during the strip down.
My 69 has a 727 auto that's original to the car. When I initially drove it around, the shifts were really soft and slow. Could just be the way it is. I have ZERO...
Ok... so the car originally came with a 361. The 440 was swapped in. It has an 8.75 rear end with 3.23 gears. So that's all perfect. I can swap that over. It's likely my 318 has different gears.
Thanks for the heads up. Is there a way I can find out which it really has? Not to sound like a jerk, but if by chance it's a 426, for the price I'm getting it for, I kinda don't want to let him know. LOL!! He sent me a picture of the engine. But I'm not enough of a gearhead to be able to...
Hey guys. It's been a few years since I've been on. Life has a way of telling you NO YOU CAN'T DO THIS RIGHT NOW. So now I'm in a space to where I can finally start to make some progress. Long story short, I bought a '69 Coronet 4-door with a 318. It's literally been sitting for 3 years in...
I have a 69 Coronet Sedan. I'm running the exact tire you mentioned above. Unfortunately I don't know the backspacing as I bought the car with them on it. I recently created a post wanting to go bigger. Looks like with a 5.5 backspace, I can possibly get a 315 back there.
In the back of my mind I was thinking about the spare. So I'll have to take that into consideration. Might have to rethink putting a pair of 15" subs in the trunk....just kidding. Thanks for the reminder.
I've decided to go with a 5.7 or 6.4 on my Coronet sedan. I know the car sits too low to go really wide. And jacking it up to clear isn't an option. I don't think it would look right on the sedan. Obviously the reason for doing this is traction. I need more rubber with the engine upgrade...
That DEFINTELY crossed my mind. But I didn't want to have the purist turning their noses up at me when I show up at the car meet.....lol. But if I mod it with a different engine, I can do my own thing and it won't be as bad...hahaha. I'm thinking of doing a tail stripe with the same name as on...
