Fatal Cuda wreck

Pretty nasty is a good way to put that. Ive seen some bad ones and this would rate in the top 10 for sure.

"A 65-year-old man died Saturday afternoon after he lost control of his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda and slammed into a utility pole on Del. 896 in Glasgow, police said." From the Local news.

Damn!!! Sorry to hear the driver didn't make it. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. The other side of the coin, the hood doesn't look too bad. How do you shear a telephone pole, and how fast do ya need to be going to do that?

Holly **** !!! that is really bad... I saw a V-8 Vega get cut in half buy a telephone pole many years ago now, during a street race on 10th street in Pittsburg Ca. in the late 70's, but that Cuda' is even much worse.... I feel bad for the family of the guy who lost his life....

OMG, this is just down the street from my house. I've met someone in that neighborhood who's huge into cars and mentioned he had a Cuda. I hope it's not him, thanks for posting this, I need to check.

Ok, don't think it was the guy I met, but it's still horrible. I hope his family is doing as alright as they can be right now.

Gee, I wonder why with all the boneheads saying some nasty things about this poor ol' geezer that's now a goner.

RIP to the driver and my condolences to the family.

Post got locked on that other "MOPARTS" site. Wonder why????

My cousin did the same thing in a 69 Camaro. He got Lucky and the pole cut through the car just behind the drivers seat. And yes a car will cut a telephone pole down, and it cost him around $2,000 back in the 80's.

I just wonder what the police estimated the speed he was traveling when it happened? Accelerater may have stuck but you never know for sure.

I just now recognized the car. I saw it a show I went to back in July up by Wilminton, DE. The car was a very nasty hemi pro street car. I would imagine that may have played a role in the event. My thoughts are with the family.

Wow, that's a reality check right there. Horsepower must be respected. Kind of eery seeing the car at it's best after seeing the crash photos. What a tragic loss of human life. I'm sorry for the victim and the family members this happened.

having worked numerous similar accidents (unfortunately) i can attest that he was moving at a high rate of speed. that was a violent hit that the car took to separate the motor from the chassis to include the automatics bell housing ect.

from looking at the picture of the before i do not like the angle of the throttle cable. i would be curious to look at pics of the front suspension also. maybe determine of it was something around there that failed.

Front suspension caught my eye too. Those shock towers have been 'tinkered' with. I wonder what was underneath the car.

I know it sounds sort of morbid to sit here and try to analyze this by picking the guys car apart, but if it can help prevent something tragic like this from happening again then so be it.

yea. im not trying to nit pick. tragedy for all im sure. lost the driver and the car

I would agree on the angle of the throttle cable and looks to be maybe just a single return spring?

Saw that on another site (not moparts) and yeah, that's terrible....

This happened to a buddy of mine here in town.Just finished restoring her and drove off the road and totaled her.1970 cuda convertible,340 4spd,top banana yellow. She was a Very pretty car.

I would like to know what the speed was. It makes you wonder if this car was one of the quilt patchwork typ restos with a car made from many different cars and not the correct QUALITY bodyshop correct body dimensions restored???
