Sweet! Almost the color of wife's eyes.

I think the code is DD1.

Looked at a 66 Charger at Daytona that was supposed to be that color.

Called about it afterwards, but was sold. Now I want it even more :(

I am not sure it is DD1. It MAY be EE1.

I have an original 1966 PPG/Ditzler color chip sheet that shows three colors of blue available in 1966 for Dodge. It shows a CC1 as a flat blue, a DD1 as a medium blue poly, and a EE1 as a dark blue poly.

The 1966 Dodge Color and Upholstery Book in the http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/index.shtml does not show any color chips. May be they don't have that part of the book or maybe they didn't have any in the book although I doubt it. There is however a picture of a Charger in what I believe is medium blue poly.

I DO have an original 1966 Dodge Dealer Data Book that has a color picture of a 1966 Charger in it that with the lighting on it is impossible to tell if it is silver or medium blue poly. Hoever my point is that the DD1 blue is WAY lighter than the color of the subject car in this post. The subject car in this post is much more like the 1966 Charger color i have been chasing in SOME of the shots but not in the others. Lighting and computer monitors can really play tricks with a color.

I have been trying to determine the original color of a 383-4 Charger that was sold new from the dealership I worked for. I worked there from 1968-74 so the car was sold prior to me working there. The car was a darker Blue that the 1968 QQ bright blue. This 66 Charger I have been chasing the true color on had a factory red pinstripe running down the roof line profile and it was sharp.

Here is the picture from the Dealer Data Book. On MY compurter monitor it looks more silver but in MY book that I am holding in my hand it looks WAY more like medium blue poly on my PPG color chip.

If someone has a 1966 Dodge Dealer Color and Upholstery Book with actual color chips in it i would like to see them.

That will turn out to be one very nice ride keep posting pictures of it's progress please.!

Thanks for the comment, the car was painted 3 years ago and has been driven about 5K miles. That is the second paint job. I have had the car on the road since 2004 and have put over 10K miles on it. I have posted numerous pics of it on this thread including no. 462 on this page. But heres a couple more.....from 10 years ago!

Sorta funny here.. When I re-did motor in early 90's plan was to make a
Hemi car that got 20+ mpg... It worked.. But gawd was it NO fun to
drive.. Can we say DOG!!! .. Sooooo, about mid 90's decided to make it
more fun.. Tossed in a mild cam (1/2") and re-jetted carbs to match..
Motor has been fully balanced.. Last year put in a 3:23 gear.. Now the
car is a freakin' blast to drive again.... :D :D :D

.

Here's a couple more ( I had previously posted a pic). I'll get some of the interior and engine bay. It's in decent shape.
