Did 383 -4bbl 4 speed cars have 22 or 26 inch radiators and what color was the block painted? I assume they had carter carb. I'm trying to decide if I should buy a car or not.

My 69 383 4 speed runner has a 22" and the motor is orange. Yes, it had a Carter, but that wasn't necessarily the case after 69

In your case the 66 motor would NOT be orange

In my experience radiator size was decided by gear ratio and A/C. I think the engine would be the turquoise color. Carb will be the narrow pattern AFB and the heads should be the 516's.

The engine should be turquoise and more than likely it should have a 22 inch radiator unless it has A/C .
