Did some trunk floor restoration and got a new gas tank but now I can't figure where the heck the single tank strap bolts/attaches to?????

If anyone can show me some photos of their 66 67 strap placement I would be much appreciative!!! I'm wondering if I might just need to weld the strap up...?

There are notches on the inside of the rear frame rails to hold the strap and j-hook.

I think the "slot" is kind of triangle shaped. It has one side longer that creates a slot so you can put the strap in, then rotate it to lock it in.

Put the strap in that side before the tank, otherwise you can't turn it enough to get it in.

Risko1, when I changed my single strapped tank in my '65 Belvedere I first hooked the strap near the rearend. That is the notched end that goes into the triangular cut out, slides down and sideways a little to lock in. Then put the gas tank ontop of the strap and hook up your fuel line and sending unit. When trying to hook up the end of the strap near the license plate make sure you loosen your J bolt quite a ways. You have to get it up into the round notch and it's a pain in the a$s. I actually used a jack to help push the tank up tight to the floor pan also.
It was actually a breeze to do the dual strap in my Roadrunner compared to the single strap.
Good luck!

66 has one strap that goes from side to side.

Thanks Guys for the replies! I kept thinking it went front to rear like my E body but side to side now makes sense since I kept looking at the triangle cut out on the frame rail and wondering what was that for....Duh!
