Road Runner Dilema

Well I need money to resto the car but that was the plan ... if the z28 sells use some of that to increase my purchase power.

I like tem both, but I would get the 69, Because a person can't have too many 69 Roadrunners. lol

you have a valid point there...LOL...

I know the "muscle car era" ended in 70
Maybe for Chevy and Ford but anyone that believes that about Mopar never drove a 71. Hemi was available for 71 and the 440-6 into 72. 69 and 71 are my favorit years and have owned several of both. The 69 will probably be worth more when done but the 71 will drive and handle better. Anymore can find parts for both about the same. Alot more 71 stuff as of late.
Nothing like the feel of a pistol grip in your hand though.

I just have a vision of myself with the pistol grip in my hand, bucket seats and me grabbing a gear coming out sidewas and laying a horror show ... from my driveway ! Superbird Daytona or hemi Cuda would be my dream car but not ever going to happen so the next best would be a 68 charger .. again priced out of range for me unless I find a deal so the next car on the list is a Roadrunner and a badass one. The 71 entices me no doubt but a 68 does as well and of course a 69....LOL repeating myself in the thread.. But my next car has to have a pistol grip either by default or installed by me. That much I do know.. i prefer the rallye dash as well.
I'll know better if the z28 sells how much I can spend. Need to keep money to restore the car and pay a bill or two... :) But the z28 has a couple bidders right now and a few emails and he reserve is set low.

Whats also funny is that my business credit card gives reward points and I have never used them so I have like 411,000 of them.. which translates to a visa card if I want and that buys parts as well so... The good plymouth fairy apparently has turned for me... ( Sgt Elias quote twisted up for ya)

Ok my latest find in my price range
VIN breaks down to hi output 383 and (premium price group)?
They are searching for the fendor tag.

It's your choice to make! But I'd go with the '69 parts are much easier to attain.

I see budget is a big deal.... If you don't have the cash to buy a decent project to start with, you wont have the cash to build it either, or it will take years & a ton frustrations finding all the needed parts... I say "just wait tell the Z28 sells too, then try to buy a driver or at least a much more complete car", you will be far better off in the long term, be patient, don't just jump into a car your going to have to spend a ton of time & money on just to get it an empty shell ready for paint & a roller, there are drivers out there for decent prices, with all the little parts you will need to complete a project, you may have to bite the bullet & look beyond your local areas, maybe even look south or west were the cars have less rot & rust issues, but IMHO there are far more complete & far better cars out there, for not too much cash, that will be allot easier/cheaper to get on the road...

I agree...'68 Chargers are awesome. Well......just about everything Mopar 1968 is Awesome.

Amen brother... my favorite car was my 1st a 68 Charger R/T, then my 2nd car a 68 Sport Satellite 383 4sd, 3rd a 68 Road Runner, 4th a 68 Barracuda Formula S 383ci... I've always had a liken' for most any 68 especially the Big Block Equipt Mopars...

I would go with the '69. Looks like the heavy metal work is done, and no secrets under paint to surprise you. Another plus is it's a post car. as far as the Pistol Grip...my last '69 had a put in by me Pistol Grip. Loved it. And since the '69 is where it's at, you can make it totally what you want.and lots more parts out there for the '69s.

This man has been around the block a time or two.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone it's a great hobby if you have the money, knowledge, tools & skills for the type of project you choose, if not, it wont usually & probably wont go well, so many project get abandoned &/or left to rot, in some corner of a barn &/or some field, because of this type criteria, not thought thru properly... Have fun & choose something in your knowlege/ability & price structure/budget...

Make an outline of what your trying to build, establish a budget & stick to your plan, so you don't do things 2 or 3 times, you'll thank me in the long run... Learn from my & many other builders many mistakes... Grasshopper....LOL...

Another budget tip for ya............Speaking of lists, Make your list of parts/services costs-needs for the prospective car, Multiply it by three...should get you pretty close to what it's actually gonna cost and parts needed.
