Anyone used this new body tool before?

You can do the same thing with a with a $10 aluminum straight edge! In all honesty, a seasoned tech could finish that just as nice with a 4" plastic spreader.

that's what i see, too! The whole set has different shaped pieces, that are suppose to give you the shape you need. I think there is like four pieces to the kit. I have used a straight edge before when smearing mud, but apparently it sounds as though the ends of these are different and smear the mud nicer.

I dont see it being a bad idea..... but I'm no body guy, nor do I want to B

You shouldnt be putting mud on so thick that you need a special shaped spreader to frost it like a cake. The price is stupid as well. If you need a paddle to do you work for you, you shouldnt be doing the work in the first place.

No kidding, 99.
If you roll in the wheelbarrel when its time to do bodywork, you might be a hack.
If you need a screed to level out the inch thick body filler, you might be a hack.
If you use screen from your back door to cover rust, then spread filler over it, you might be a hack.
Hey... I am not the best bodyman in the world, but you can stick magnets anywhere on the cars I paint.

The idea is not to build a great deal of thickness! The idea is to spread a large surface area smoothly to help eliminate some of the sanding. By the way you can build polyester filler 1/4 thick and a standard flex magnet found in just about every tool box will still stick!!!

What is this "body filler" you speak of ?

Okay, okay, if you need to skim coat a large panel (think roof) which is not uncommon on a 45 + year old car, you're better off with a sprayable filler like SlickSand or Featherfill. You're still (hopefully) going to sand most of it off, but at least you're not chasing self created highs and lows by using a yardstick for a squeegee.

These spreader are a great deal of money. I don't see what makes them worth 147.00 if your like the west coast guys spreading the whole car with mud then get a set of straight edges made of aluminum. I can't see the expense.
