Is this a good start?

Please continue to post your steps throughout the rebuild.

I am in the process of gathering parts for a mild street 440 for my 64 Belvedere wagon, backed by a 67+ TF and later 8 3/4 w/ 3:55 Sure Grip, which I already have. Nothing like starting backwards.

spacing the rings

spacing the rings, looking over the pistons and the rockers from hughes engines

I'm pretty sure you know the answer to that question. Kudo's on a great looking engine brother

Thanks guys for the positive feedback, good to know I'm not doing it wrong.

But I would like your opinion on something.......... I am putting a edelbrock water pump which I am putting in the engine but should I go with the "original water pump housing" or a "Mopar Performance Aluminum Housing".

The original one is in great condition and after I bead blast it and paint it it will look great (and its free). Or is it worth getting the Mopar Performance one which is aluminum but it costs $180.

I am leaning towards the original one.

Aluminum weighs much less, but if you dont care about that run the original.

I thought it was only about 5 pounds. Will that be the only advantage?

since when did they start celebrating christmas in June in New Zealand? :hello2:

Cam and lifters are Edelbrock performer rpm. The Rockers and 1.6 from hughes engines

Here's an thread over at dodgecharger.com linky comparing a few aluminum vs cast iron orig. claimed weight savings is 10 lbs. Add aluminum water pump for a little more, your aluminum intake etc. Every 100 lbs off the car adds roughly a .10th off your quarter mile time. also you can move the batt to trunk for a big weight transfer off the front end to over the pass rear tire to help for traction.

love me some motor **** thanks! Looks like some good stuff for a fst *** ride too ;)
