Ya I hear ya HYRDGOON. I've bought all the parts for my front end overhaul, so the dollar won't hurt me there anymore. It's a serious hit, but I'll still head down for fuel. Diesel here is $144.9 a litre, $398.9 a gallon in Oroville Washington. I'm only 5 min. from the border so it still pays to fuel up down there

I got most of my stuff purchased when we were at $.96 the only stupid thing I did was leave the balance owing on my crate motor till it shipped which was just last week so my biggest ticket item I had the worst exchange rate on (my fault for not really paying attention) I've found a Canadian performance company just east of Toronto that seems willing to play ball with pricing and have been coming in for my few remaining parts for what I consider fair price CAD so hopefully all wrapped up now

Good Day All Just joined your group today. I live in Sarnia Ontario a border city with Port Huron Michigan. So I either get the parts shipped to the Chrysler Dealer in Port Huron and pick them up there. Just this past weekend I bought some used parts from some guys garage in Michigan. Not a very pleasant experience at Canada Customs. Most times there is no issue cause I am bringing back New parts.

Welcome to FBBO! Ya I can see how that would have been a headache... did they call the guy from the border to verify what you bought and how much you paid? that has happened to my buddy in the Sault several times buying parts for his truck

Hello Mike ! I hope your new engine arrived safely ! You got me thinking about the import duties and taxes I paid on my engine (about 1G). perhaps I can have that refunded if it should not have been applied. I'd be interested in learning how you handled that with yours. Patrick

Hey Patrick, I was just going to send you an email today to update you on what's going on. I'll still do that to let you know how I'm dealing with the duties. One thing I am doing differently is the engine is going through my buddies broker for his restoration shop rather than relying on CME to just ship... CME requested this and it seemed to work out better and very fast. The engine shipped on Wednesday afternoon and is already in Toronto and scheduled for Delivery here Monday between 10 a.m and Noon!

Nice looking car Greg gorgeous car and healthy sounding Motor! I just got my stroker from CME and have only heard good things from Muscle Motors as well... Would be good for us to compare notes on experience, final numbers etc.. since our builds are pretty close and maybe give the other Canadian members that are considering crate motors a bit of a review. I ordered a 522 dyno'd at 527hp at 5400 and 660 lbs torq at 3300.

NICE LOOKING CARS Peter!! Must be a pain for you to get parts for sure... It's been almost painful at times on this board to see the price people get stuff for and knowing that we can't come close to it half the time especially now that our dollar is in the toilet!

Excellent .. how long til we see some pics ?? !!!

Monday afternoon! I have Monday off so going to go unwrap the big bastard like it's Christmas morning myself and go over final assembly. This whole project should be wrapped up by the first week of March. Going at it hard through the next few weeks!

Rallye is looking for someone in the Victoria B.C. area to most likely help him with checking out a car if anyone is able.

The price is only one problem... I find it very frustrating that so many people WON'T SHIP TO CANADA !!!! we are not all scammers up here in CANADA. I won't say anymore because lots of people on this site have been great!!

It's true although I don't think it's because they think we're scammers I think it's more to do with the headache and cost of cross border shipping. Unless you have a broker or access to one shipping seems like a PITA. I have several small parts that I have paid more to ship than the part itself.

I've had hundreds and hundreds of items shipped to me in Canada from us US. People from this forum, other car forums, eBay, online sales. It usually involves the seller putting the item into an envelope or carton, taking it to USPS and mailing it. Done.

The odd person who won't ship to Canada or will only use UPS are the people who don't really want my dollars, and I find another source. It hasn't been a problem for me but admittedly I haven't had anything much larger than a steering wheel or set of composite headlamps shipped.

Anybody with info, about importing a car from Canada to the U.S ? ( it's a 1973 ) thanks

also, anybody in the Victoria B.C area, willing to check out a car ?

Tallhair and Photon I think most that won't sell this way are private although some small companies would. My biggest issues so far was when I was trying to get paint that I couldn't find here (for the RR Horn and the krylon headlight treatment) because of Hazmat coming over the border. So far most items I've ordered from the states have come either UPS or USPS... I guess depending on who ships sometimes I owe customs at the door and sometimes not. So far the best service/shipping I've had has been from Summit.

I've only had 2 very large heavy items that I have ordered my engine which I put through my friends broker and my 489 centre section from Dr. Diff which I sent to a friend with an address in Sault Michigan and drove it across. I remember when I spoke to Cass at Dr. Diff he commented how he couldn't believe there isn't a driveline shop on our side of the border doing what he does because he does tons of business on this side of the border.

It's funny they can't track it through Canada Post Tallhair because everything we send package wise through CP here comes with a track #

I guess a lot of people wait and hit up the trade booths at the larger Mopar shows like Moparfest in New Hamburg but that's not convenient for everyone either. We're missing one good Canadian supplier that has competitively priced merch in CAD and free shipping (over a min. $ value like Summit, Jegs etc...) The only thing I can think of chain wise here is Performance Improvements and I imagine those stores vary locally because I'm not a big fan of the one here in Guelph (the store manager just wants to talk about his Mustang every time I go in for parts for my Mopar!)

Not sure if this will help anyone that isn't aware but as far as stock replacement parts go or used parts from their salvage yard National Moparts is the best thing going our side of the border.... Hopefully this helps someone out that didn't know about them before http://www.nationalmoparts.com/

I just finished ordering my new shocks and here's a perfect example of the downside for the Canadian Consumer

Shocks before tax $409 after 10% discount $368 after exchange rate $405... Shipping for U.S. customers Free... Shipping Cost landed to my door here $90

Ugggggggghhhhhh

I'm in Victoria and could take a look.I'm always up for checking out a Mopar.

I've brought cars back from the U.S. a couple times and know of cars being sent the other way but I'm not sure what the U.S. buyers needed to do.It's likely fairly straightforward with an older domestic car so it should'nt be much of an issue.
Your best bet would be to call a U.S. customs office on the U.S./B.C. border. The one at Blaine WA would have a lot of experience with that and would tell you what you need or if the car is coming from Victoria, the Port Angeles WA office might be a better bet.I find the Port Angeles customs guys are a lot less busy and way more laid back then the ones in Blaine so they would have more time to answer any and all questions you might have.Just don't call around the time the Coho ferry arrives which is around noon this time of year.

Hey,I'm always happy to help out another Mopar fan.Rallye PMed me about the car and it turns out I've seen the car around a couple times and talked to the owner about it a couple years ago at a local cruise night.Small world.

I have been in touch with the Road Runners previous owner from time to time.I have'nt done much with the car for awhile but been back at it off and on this winter and will have it on the road this summer. It's pretty close now, just a few small projects left to do.

Peterborough Ontario Mopar virgin here.

Hey fellow Canadians,

New member and new to Mopar guy here. 1966 Coronet 440 Daffodil yellow with black interior. I live in Peterborough, Ontario and work in Oshawa. Have only had the car a week and it is tucked away in my garage. I had no idea how big this car was when I bought it and thus I ended up introducing my garage workbench to a skilsaw the night before I trailered it home :)

Note the workbench in the pic...

Hoping there are other Mopar guys close the Peterborough / Oshawa area that I can bounce ideas off and bombard them with questions.

Below is a link to my intro post and a couple pictures of the car. It is now de-badged and waiting for me to find the correct 66 emblems.

Hey 66,

welcome to the prestigious club of Mopar ownership! hahaha

I know what you're saying about the workbench when I first moved to Guelph I had my 69 Pro-street Coronet and was purchasing a builder home... I had to ask the builder to move the house back 2 feet on the lot and come up with a price to sell me 2 extra feet of garage so I'd have enough room around it!

As I said in your welcome thread that is a great looking car and hopefully this winter breaks so you can enjoy it soon!
