I've installed a few. They are very nice and simple. I didn't listen to the whole thing and they may have mentioned this in the video. You are limited to somehow keeping the door weight on the cable. So in low clearance set ups either the door can't open all the way, or a section or two needs to be in the vertical position once open. They are great on high track set ups and are super quiet. I'm not sure the battery is needed, I think I can accept getting out and opening the door manually on the rare occasional power outage.

My folks have a couple similar units on the family service station back home.

Not certain if it's this brand but they are great openers, so quiet and they have it tied into the security system.

I have one installed on my door they are great. They are designed for use on standard style doors up to 144 sq feet. They are not designed for commercial doors and can not be opened and closed constantly

Funny. I JUST posted this pic in another post and if you look in the very upper left hand corner you can just see the red and black the jackshaft door opener. Same one as in your pic. I have two. One is on a 17 foot wide, 8 foot high door. Works great and opens all the way. I heard same about not opening, but the guy who adjusted mine had them both working in no time.

Runner68 I will have to look in my manual for exact specs but they put a limit per hour. They are great openers but are made for residential doors not commercial. Prior to this I had a commercial opener on my door and like a previous poster stated those need constant weight on them.

Interesting. I would think that direct drive design could take some pretty heavy use. Maybe not.

It's a duty cycle thing. When you get into commercial/ industrial the door could go up and down constantly and the motor will overheat, trip off on thermal overload, and you are stuck. I put a commercial jack shaft on my commercial garage that was bigger than the salesman suggested because I was worried about someone operating the thing too many times in a row. My next step is to modify it to make the door move quicker.

The one the OP is showing is really cool because it starts and stops the door slowly. Makes for a very quiet opening operation.

I have a Wayne dalton unit. Same principle, it's been a very good unit for me. It's on a 16x7 insulated door. It actually mount on the bar/header above the door. I think it was about 300 bucks. It's been 6 years so it's probably more costly now. Take care Howard
