Is there a "home remedy" for removing painted on graphicsl?
These were painted over the clear coat, I just want to remove the name on the doors

If it is painted with sign paint over the clear coat the easiest way i have found is Easy Off" oven cleaner...spray it on wait a minute or so...wipe it off...repeat untill the lettering is all off...a sign painter showed me that trick. (try the easy off on a inconspicous spot ist just to be safe) Fine rubbing compound works but alot more work.

I'll bet there's a bunch of clear on the car. Wet-sand with a block....very carefully and slowly. Use fine paper and see if it'll just wheel. Hell, compound and a wheel might take it off. That's where I'd start.

you may be able to remove it with enamel reducer on a rag........ but NOT lacquer thinner

Do you know what they were painted with? If the clear coat is hardened enamel and the name is sign painter's lacquer, no problem. Lacquer thinner will take it off and not touch the clear.

I agree. a pin striper told me easy off oven cleaner works great. spray it on wait then rinse off. a contractors van was lettered with one shot lettering enamel and it was sprayed at night the first rain storm washed the letters off the van. someone was a little mad with the contractor you think?

oven cleaner removes most sign paint I would try before sanding

I removed mine with oven cleaner, spray it on, let it work for a few minutes, then wipe it off. Reapply as needed. Test a small spot before you start.

I had mine done last year, I was leery about using the oven cleaner as the paint is amazing on my RR. At the end of the day, we ended up wet sanding, and buffing.... there was a lot of clear on the car, and as a result you cant even see where the graphic used to be. Good Luck!
