Gas Tank Sending unit/Float

Ok took the sending unit out of the tank and hooked it up out of the tank and a ground and when I lifted the float the gas gage at the dash went up, so that tells me two things the dash gage works and the sending unit is working. Now I put the sending unit into a full bucket of gas and the float did not float. Dam can you replace the float. and it work freely so it is not stuck or just get a new sending unit.

Float just pops out. Take it out and drop it in the bucket. If it doesn't float get a new one. You can buy just the float. Someone on here might have one laying around.

Vans Auto has them for $10, you might find them cheaper elsewhere. (I think Vans sells them cheaper on Amazon)

My local Car Quest has them on hand. Other parts store might also.

I got a new float on eBay for $8 shipped.

Local auto parts stores didn't have them.
