What's the fastest speed you have been on land?

Driving the vehicle yourself gets extra credit.

Me, a measly 130 mph..

Probably a buck 25 (125) in a '68 Sport Satellite with a transplanted 440 from a '69 R/T Charger, back when those motors were available in the local wrecking yard (late '70s). Stock suspension, bouncing all over US 101 late at night with the speedo buried. Not the wisest decision by any means. But, 35+ years ago, didn't have the same amount of common sense that I do now...

Indicated 185+ on my Hayabusa. Over 175 indicated on my old GSXR1100. Over the years, I've probably exceeded 160 at least 50-60 times.

215 mph in a 2008? I forget the year last one before they were stopped till the new ones . N.o.s. and a few other parts I blew the head into bits the owner tried to get it warranted they told him no because the car went over 200 or 205 can't remember the number . He tried playing it off they pulled the computer up and showed him . He wasn't happy but it gave him a reason to build the motor out I am not aloud to drive the new setup. This is verified by many people there used to be a video also I'll try making some calls to see if we can find that vid.
I've also done 172 in a Mitsubishi eclipse gt with the mivec v6 and 6 speed verified by the highway patrol at 2 a.m. on I95 nice guys (no jail for me )

Again my wife can vouch for both as she was riding with me both times !

172 and popped, I would have bought a lotto trickle after that one. Lol

Did a lap average of just over 150 at the Petty Driving School at Las Vegas Speedway. The instructor said I was probably doing 160+ at the end of the backstretch. Plenty fast but felt really safe strapped into the car. What caught me by surprise is how much aero downforce these cars have at that speed, amazing.

I remember doing about 120 in my old 240Z and it was feeling really light in the front. Then when racing a 66 hemi Charger in my 68 RR I saw the speedo buried, the tach at 6000 RPM and I was in 4th. Hmm, quick calculation with 3.55 gears told me the quarter mile was long over so I got out of it slowly because I was on Pleasant Hill Road making that long poorly banked curve. And to add insult to injury, I removed the front sway bar and had 6 cyl T bars.

Another time when I had my 84 turbo Chrysler Laser and my buddy with his RX7 we were doing something like 130 and it was pretty even.

average lap speed of 152 at mis speedway back in 2003 at Richard Petty driving school in Brooklyn, Michigan. compliments of a building supplier of mine. so maybe 180 in the straight aways. awesome would love to do it again. no speedo in M&M car.

152 MPH in a '04 M3.

I had just bought it and was driving it home. The car I had left at the dealership was a '93 Accord 4 banger with an automatic. So I was used to a certain level of road noise for 70 MPH and a certain level of accelerator mash. Anyhow I was driving home on the interstate and was coming up on a semi. I moved to the left lane to pass and down shifted to 5th with a little accelerator oomph to make the pass. As I was passing him I noticed another semi coming up, so I stayed in the left lane. As I passed the second one I casually glanced at the speedo expecting to see 75 or so. It was 152 freaking MPH. I audibly said "whoa!", put it back in 6th and slowed down.

So yeah, 150 in the M3 felt just like 70 in the Accord.

While test driving a '15 Mustang GT the other day I hit 125 on a back road as well, but that was intentional.

155mph in my '70 Roadrunner under the gaze of the volcano below back in 1988. I actually did it on two more occasions with witnesses, so I know the speed is true enough for the purposes of this bench-racing session.

If I tried that today, I would probably be used as the foundation for a new prison.

This past Thursday I went 126 in the 2015 Challenger R/T but the WIFE was driving!
I've been 130 in the Charger. I backed off since I was in an area of the freeway that can be a speed trap. Plenty of pull at that speed, the 3.55 gears may have had me near redline though!
I went over 130 in my 76 Camaro. Never had the guts to go fast on a motorcycle.

134 in the 1/4 and no idea the fastest on the highway. Went from San Antonio to Pasadena (about 220 miles) years ago in the middle of the night in 2 hours. 66 Belvedere, mildly built 383 with 2.94 gears. The speedometer pinion was right for 2.94s and the needle was well past 120 much of the way. That stretch of I-10 was new back then and was nice and smooth unlike today. Used to visit my dad a lot in Lake Charles which was 150 miles from where I used to live near Hobby Airport. He lived across the street from the Lake Charles Airport. Did that stretch several times in 2 hours. 45 minutes from the Zoom Club in Frankfurt to Hahn AFB which was about 90 miles I guess. That run was easy though but did have some 2 lane switch back roads once near the base but usually didn't have to slow down below 100 km for those. The Opel Rekord was good for 220 km.
