What's The Fastest Speed You Have Been

Did a lap average of just over 150 at the Petty Driving School at Las Vegas Speedway. The instructor said I was probably doing 160+ at the end of the backstretch. Plenty fast but felt really safe strapped into the car. What caught me by surprise is how much aero downforce these cars have at that speed, amazing.

Ditto. Same thing except Chicago. Was like driving a big Go Kart.

I don't really remember a specific top speed, but back in the day I made a trip to Dallas from my home town in 4 hours 30 minutes. 397 miles doorstep to doorstep.

Hard to see the speedo when tucked but 170ish on my old Suzuki GS1150
145 in my 3900 lb brick in the 1/4.

My 1150's never went faster than an indicated buck-sixty. Still my favorite bike of all-time. I still have 3 Suzuki sportbikes. My B-King would be stupid-fast[over 200], but you can't get past 155 or so...before the wind tries to rip you off, and the helmet/head-shake is violent.

I had a 73 Roadrunner with a 650 HP 440 on the track at Daytona in the early 1980s that was going fast enough that my front wheels left the ground and my wheels were windmilling. I slowed coming into turn two and felt the wheels grab and it scared the crap out of me. I made it back to the grandstand exit doing about 20 MPH. I saw my friends jumping up and down and waiving their arms at me, but I thought they were cheering me on not trying to tell me I was about to go airborne.

About 115 on several motorcycles.

I tell ya, 115 is a LOT more scary on a bike than in a car.

The other guy said "no way, I was only going 135".

I said, "yeah you were only going 135 I was going 155, that's why I won"

Now, that bike wouldn't run with a stock 600. Times have really changed. My B-King has 50% more power at the rear wheel, than an 1150 had at the crank. My last 1150[about 5 years ago]....felt like a whizzer, compared to new bikes. I'll be getting the 1st supercharged Hayabusa-1400, when Suzuki starts delivering them to my local dealer.

I'd rather go 200 on a new sportbike, than about any car I've ridden in. The bodywork on these bikes, is amazing.

Back in the day my best friend had a 69 Torino Cobra Jet fastback with the 428 engine. We had just got done tuning it and took it out on I-94 and I watched the speedo clock all the way around past zero. Even though I am a true Mopar guy that was the fastest car I was ever in to date.

Automobile: 143 mph in my 2007 Shelby GT 500 (Speed Limiter kicked in, and I thought the hood was going to fly off)
Motorcycle: 172 mph in my (then) 1999 Yamaha R1

130 mph on my 'Zuk Water Buffalo...just long enough to tick the number, then rolled gently off the throttle, sweating a tank slapper.
