Dana 60 center section

In my 64 belvedere I have a dana sixty w/5.13 gears(from long ago) my engine is now 70 cubes bigger and a few more HP. I have the carrier that does not require a spacer to run the lower gears, if I go to a 4.30 gear, will I have to change back to the other carrier,(I have another w/ 3.54 gears) that will work for the 4.30's?? I know that the break over for the thick flanged carrier is 4.56, but I don't know if it will go the other way without some kind of speical trick? Dave.

The bigger the number....the lower the gear.

I think the break for carriers is 4.10 down uses one carrier and 4.30 up uses the one you have with the 5.13 gears . I have used gears with the spacer with no problems , with a 426 Hemi , 5000 stall converter and 5.38 gears turning 8000 rpm .
