hello all,
just finishing up my first stroker motor, 440 based 512, 440 source rotating assembly and stealth heads , motor will be running a six pack setup and I'm am thinking its prob not a good idea to run the stock intake valley pan tin tray, .. what do you guys use when running aluminum heads?? how do the aftermarket ones seal??

Stock one works best with the stealth heads.
Don't use the 440 source one.
I went through two of them.
Too flimsy.
A lot of the aftermarket ones you need to lift at least one head.
 
Some dual plane manifolds with a heat crossover won't clear a cast valley cover.
 
I use the stock tin valley pan on the 6-Pack with the Stealth heads, Edelbrock RPM, Trick Flow and all standard height cylinder heads. The 440 Stealth valley pan for dual plane manifolds doesn't fit the 6-Pack manifold per 440 Source. The 6-Pack manifold doesn't fit any flat valley pan.

i thought the tin factory one would mark up the aluminum head? like they tell you to use special head gaskets for aluminum..that is why i thought to ask
 
Thanks IQ, I have the RPMs as well as the RPM intake ( non egr)...I have a stock valley pan, just not crazy about the looks.
 
i made this one some years back for an iron head 6pak set-up. takes a little time and thought but not difficult to fab something.

I made one for my six pack rb, decided I really didn't care for it though when I had to pull a head for a cam swap.

For my 511 I just wacked off the heat cross over and run a Indy with removable lid.

Does anyone remember a fiberglass pad laying on top of valley cover for low-pro big blocks? I remember seeing them.C- bodies,B bodies. The original valley pan worked OK back in the time. Not trying to get anything started, but the OEM worked pretty good.

My 400 had the pad on it when I got it. Only reason I didn't use the factory tray is it's easier to pull intake swaps. Also on something that's had heavy porting that's another thing you gotta mess with opening up.
 
I use the stock pan with the runners cut off. I rebend the remainder of the pan @ 45º and tuck the edge under the heads. Works great. Simple, too. Use any manifold. Just use the paper port gasket or an upgraded gasket. Swap manifolds in minutes.

i've done that too on alum heads.
 
what seals the edge of the pan to the heads when you cut the runners off?
