Hello folks, Im new to fbbo and I'm already in need of some help. I'm sure it has been covered before many times, but here it goes, I just bought a 69 coronet 440 4dr and I'm in need of tires. It currently has 7.75-14 bias ply. I would like to change to radials and possibly change wheel size. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Such as tire size and brand recommendations. Also should I keep the original wheel size or change it? Thank you in advance.

I just put a set of Cooper Cobras on my '69 Road Runner after a BF Goodrich T/A Radial separated a belt on me. Happy with the Cooper so far. No more Goodrich for me.

Cooper makes BFG or is it, BFG makes Cooper. I can't remember which is which.

I like the Coopers too. Inexpensive. Got these mounted, balanced, to the door from Summit.

Mount the RWL's inside if you like. How about a picture of your Coronet?

Oh dear, say it ain't so.

You got me thinking so I checked and according to Wiki, They are not made by Cooper (an American tire company). BFG was sold to Michelin in 1990.

That said, I'm sure my experience was rare (I see them on many, many muscle cars), but you know how that goes, get burned once and you form an opinion.

Well, I've got to talk with the sales guy at the tire shop I go to.

I apologize for the mis-information.

Thank you for the replys.
Still wondering what sizes you folks recommend, largest tire I can fit on the stock 14 inch wheel without rubbing.
The owners manual states, min. Tire size is 7.75-14( which it now has on it) it then states max tire size for 14 in. Is g78-14, 8.25-14 or f70-14. Would all of those sizes fit on the stock wheels on my 69 coronet 440 4 dr?

I'd like to know what the widest tire I can run on the stock 14 in. wheel without rubbing.
Thanks again

Your car looks great with the whitewalls and caps! I was running 225-70 14's until I shoved the 295-50 15's on the rear. Not sure about 4 doors. Yours looks kind of classic elegance and I would not go for a muscle stance if mine.

I agree with Dennis. Your car has a classic clean look. Why distract from it by putting muscle car looking tires on it. Looks great the way it is.

I doubt you will run into problems with tire sizes fitting in the wheel wells until you exceed something like 10-11 inches wide and about 28 inches tall (rear) and that about 8 -9 inches wide and 27 inches tall (front). How you get to these sizes (rim + tire) will not be with the stock rims you have, but can be done with a variety of different rim sizes (15, 16, 17, 18). I like the look you have now but there are not too many options with your current rims. When I used the stock rims like yours, I ran 215 75r14. The car originally had g7814. If you decide to change rims, there are many companies that make them.
