looking at buying a 66 charger, it has a transmission but the engine is missing. question is will a newer like a 2010-2014 5.2 bold up to that transmission?? I'd like to upgrade to new engine and fuel injection

Let's put it this way, whatever combo of engine and transmission went together originally, that's probably the combo you should use. Doesn't matter if it was in 1970 or 2015. The engineer's at Chrysler did all the figuring for you so you wouldn't destroy either easily. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link and that's how your car will pan out sending 425 h.p. to a tranny that is rated for 325. Build according to engine torque and horse power and that includes the tranny, driveshaft and universals and diff.
