Ladder bar failure?

From the pics. Looks like the weld failed on the rear end housing bracket.

Cold fusion at its best

After seeing the similar Dart clip and this one, I'm guessing one should add a bracket to completely loop the housing.

Me and my brother in law were discussing this yesterday, we're getting ready to install the 4 link on my coronet and we have a stick welder and a mig, he says he can get better penetration with the stick than the mig, but we both agreed we'd feel better about it if we had a tig welder. I don't have the coin to fork over for a decent tig right now though

Famous last words...."Don't worry, those spot welds will hold"

Two things about this clip or subject.
1st it doesn't matter what way you weld the brackets. It may be tig mig or stick. If it's done correctly it doesn't matter. The issue with many housings is the material used. Welding old 83/4 or Dana 60 arise many contamination issues.
2nd their is no place for a half bracket. Yes you can get away with it. I won't even use a half bracket on wheelie bar anymore. 360 brackets little more work and cost but well worth it!

Didn't look like they wrapped their welds.

Go rent one if you know how to use it.
