Classic Air

I have no idea how Classic Air stacks up against it competitors but having recently installed there system heres my take. There customer service was excellent. There product was ok. I had to modify a mounting bracket, actually make one to get the compressor to mount properly but thats not the problem. The installation was simple enough and straight forward. Everything fit but the hoses to the compressor are to high and had to be persuaded to allow the hood to close again not a big issue
Everything worked great as far as the heat when i last tried it late fall. Upon trying it several weeks ago there was no heat and it was the motorized water valve which was not going open. I had power to the valve and the valve itself was free. A call to Classic and i was told the control unit was a problem and needed to be recalibrate'd, they e mailed a shipping label and after around ten days i got it back. Thats wasnt the problem
The problem was at the motorized valve. I took the control for the valve apart and it had anti-freeze in it. When i had removed a hose last year some anti-freeze must have gotten on the body of the control and leaked inside. Great, i thought, clean the engine and this thing will get full of water. While I'm not going to submerge the thing but it should be at least a little water resistant. Inside the control the gears are all plastic and cheap looking. The cable from the control unit to the valve control was the problem. It is mickey mouse junk , the kind of connection you'd expect in some cheap toy. In a car, under the hood id think something a little more substantial would be better. The pins in the water valve control and the cable were not making good contact. Mind you this car has never been on the road. The pins themselves are very fragile and bend easily. Well either way its working and tomorrow i will order a new water valve and the control cable .

thank you for letting us know about it. I was thinking of buying from them. I believe Vintage Air is another brand. I would think if you pay over a $1000 it should work.

Don't get me wrong, it wasnt bad but my opinion is under the hood requires a more secure connection and a water resistant motorized valve

Vintage Air uses an electric valve, they work Awesome!

I just received my Original Air kit last week. Still need to put it together when I get some time. I mocked it up and so far looks like everything fits.

I had a problem were the back of the compressor needed a small bracket to hold into to the intake manifold or the head, i dont recall right now. The piece they supplied just did not line up. I made my own and really it was no big deal. The instructions in the manual were well written. Today i ordered a new water valve and the harness for it. I was surprised at the price, 67 dollars, which i thought was good

Just finished Classic install, works very well. Air Temp 34.2 degrees. Fan is a little noisey but works good. I did have a problem with heater valve, they replaced it quickly. I have seen the Vintage Air heater valve maybe the same valve as Classic. For a 1964 the compressor bracket is a problem, none of the normal brackets everyone has or says will fit does.
