Hey guys.. looking at a date coded 1969 440 long block and the stamping on it has:

S = Special Engine
WT = Water Tested

Anyone come across these special designations before and what they were used for? Possibly what is different about them?

Thanks!

A picture would help.

I am working with the seller to get pictures of the stampings and markings. Casting number is same as all 440's. 2536430-10. Assembly date is late 1969 - getting pic as well. Seller says no other casting numbers, marks or stampings..

warranty? does it have a vin #

Warranty blocks had WT "water tested" stamped on them for certain...

Defective block. PM the seller's info and I will help him unload it by paying shipping...
Lol. :)
Watching this thread for the real answer.
I saw a pic of a motor going down the Chrysler assembly line hooked up to a water source and presumably being tested, outside of the car.

I actually found the answer I was looking for. I bought the engine as it was a non-vin 1969 warranty block. Anyone with a high-end muscle car like a charger 500, a real one, or like a Superbird or a 12 car or something like that would need this to complete basically, a matching numbers restoration.

The seller had it cheap and didn't know what he had..

That don't make it "numbers matching" to everyone. All that does is make it a "warranty" block in an otherwise "high end" muscle car that isn't worth as much as it could have been.
