68 charger 4 sale

I opened up the craigslist add and it says that the car comes with $3000 worth of interior in the boxes, at least that’s how I read it. So that brings the asking price for the car down to $14,000, provided that the buyer wants the interior color already included in the $17,000 price. This is also an AC car, more desirable to some people. Quarter skins are not a big job and for a lot of cars out there that have not been gone over they are almost always needed. I think it’s worth a look. That’s coming from a 46 year old. LOL
On the down side, with a factory 318 am I right in saying that this car would only have an 8 1/4 rear?

I would love to have a car like this to drive everyday, rain or shine as a daily driver. Problem is they are all going for more than I even have invested into my red Charger after owning it for 28 years. As much as I like a 68' Charger I still like the 69-70 Chargers better. The round tail lights & side marker lights never went with the over body design as well, IMO.

A completed mopar. I will add money for the right car. Let me know what you have.

1969 was the first year for the 8 1/4 rear, in my experience of owning at least 50 68-70 chargers. Also, The 68' Charger coronet /Dart service manual shows only the 7 1/4,8 3/4, and 9 3/4 rear available.

And when are these coming down to that 15k level so i can use it for work? Hell, cheaper than buying a newer car...

I have several friends in my age group that want a muscle car. We are still getting our kids thru school and college. Factor in some divorces, upgrading houses as the market was climbing after Y2K only to be caught in the bubble bursting in 08-09, competeing with you retired folks with pension plans, etc. Yes many are priced out of the market right now trying to recover from all that. We had these cars as leftover beaters in high school in the 80's and still have the desire to own them. Unless the entire economy crashes like the 30's i dont really see these cars hitting rock bottom. They will always be toys. The market value will change over the years and cars will continue to migrate around the globe. As much as other countries bitch about fuckin Americans they sure like our **** and want to be like us....

People liking these cars is not the issue, the issue is do they like them enough to sacrifice X amount of $$ to buy one instead of something else they may want in life.

Compare 68-70 Charger prices with 68-70 Coronet or Roadrunner prices. Even more interesting is how cheap a 66-67 Charger can be.

Can't go by Vanguard's pricing. They are local & all of their stuff is priced at like more than double of what their cars are worth (IMO) but someone keeps buying them!!!! Seems like everything & everyone in other countries all have the money these days. Everything is shipping overseas. Just goes to show America is not as great as we think it is. All of the other countries have gotten rich off of us & sending all of our work & jobs to them overseas & now they can pay whatever they want for the cars they want to import.

I put that there as a nice example. Carsonline and others have plenty of Mopars and nothing in the late 60's seems to touch the Charger as far as price. There are plenty of Chargers selling for crazy money. Roadrunners are getting up there in crazy money territory. If I was going bang for the buck today, I would probably go 66-67 B body. You have a few classic car dealers up there. I bought my Dart from Southern Motors.

IMO I think the 68-70 Charger is timeless however I am 51yo. At what point is a car car “too old” and no longer desirable? I doubt my 16yo son will think my Charger is very cool in 10 or 15 years. I’m not sure really what to do with my car as I age. Sure I enjoy it now but is it a matter of selling in a hot market or give it to my son when I am in my death bed and let him blow it out to someone for $7000 for some quick cash???

I collect pinball machines and this discussion has been going on for 20 years. Prices and desirability did take a dip in 08 (along with most everything else). But with the pinball and arcade conventions / shows, the younger crowd began to collect. I was lucky and got in when they were still pretty cheap. One of my games I bought for $750 is averaging $6k+ 10
years later. New companies have popped up making them and the hobby is stronger than every. I always felt prices would stall, but on the most collectable ones, prices continue to increase.

To me these Chargers and E Bodies will always be the top of the collectable Mopars, for all the reasons stated earlier. I hope 68's hold firm, at least to make myself feel like I'm not wasting money on this car. But if not, oh well, at least I got something I wanted done my way. To me, the key is finding ways to get younger folks involved. Maybe Barracuda or Dart A bodies or (eeks) a cheap early Mustang, and let them build up like I did. Once younger folks stop being interested, the prices will fall. Just IMHO.

I am grateful I held on to mine, purchased by me in May 1985 from the original owner. My youngest daughter was born in March of that year. She is Now 33, and teaching at a University. How time goes by!

I've dabbled in pinball off and on over the years myself and agree with you on both points.
Currently have a first production Williams High Speed that I will keep forever.

I lived in Phoenix at the time, and bought the car around 51st ave and Glendale. The previous owners still live in that same house!

The key is to invest in a chiropractic clinic to fix their neck as we drive by. The X &Y gens get it.

It’s really all about supply and demand that dictates pricing on these cars. And with more and more going overseas, a few get wrecked every year, and Hollywood still destroying them, the supply gets less with time. IMO, the prices may flat line from time to time, but will never go down and will be an overall solid investment.
