WWII Field Kitchen Re-anactment

That was awesome and now I'm hungry.

When I started out in the service in 1975 this was exactly how we ate in the field. We carried our own mess kits though. They were essentially the same as pictured. C Rations are great, I liked them!

You were lucky. Ours were cold and dry. Every thing from a can.

I think we had K rats at Ft Hood, TX in the 80s. They were pretty good. Tasted like canned veggies do from the grocery store.

Our kitchen looked like this

Yeah that's the MKT set up. They came out around 1977 or '78. When I started out we were shaving out of steel pot helmets making coffee in the things. Heating C Ration cans on the exhaust manifolds of the trucks and generators.

Sticks to your ribs and drown it in black coffee and your go to go for the day.

Lol, never went thru that. DID try C-rats heating with a little nickel size ball of C-4. Gotta watch, gets hot pretty quick!
