Our Car values

When the howl of a hot V8 is nothing but a memory that will be a sad day in America... although when I see the performance some of these guys get with electric motors, it's impressive (look up Zombie 222). It's just eerie not hearing anything but tires squealing when he gets on it, but holy crap that thing is a beast...for a Ford.

Society is about to wage war on the tailpipe. It won't be federal, or even state level government that will ban internal combustion. It will be unacceptable to society to have a car with a tailpipe. Think cigarettes and second hand smoke here.
I don't like it, but I accept it as it is unstoppable. I think our cars may be banned sooner than we think. Enjoy these cars while you can.

I remember missing leaded gas thinking it was the end of the world.

Hey, anybody wanting to get rid of their politically incorrect smog producing tailpipe Mopar muscle car really cheap, let me know, I got cash. HURRY before it becomes totally worthless ;)

I hope I'm wrong, but with my generation who grew up with muscle cars rides off into the sunset, and with the 800 horsepower new cars, and faster than lightning (almost) electric vehicles, I would expect classic car values to drop dramatically over the next 10-20 years.

If people are into these cars just for the money they should dump them now and move on. That would drop the fender tag douchebag population by more then ninety percent. And would free up a bunch of cool cars for people that actually appreciate them for what they are.

I grew up during an era that has been described as, "Americas love affair with the automobile". I am truly blessed. I see a whole different scenario for the future. I'll take a stab and say that the majority of us have cars that we associate with our youth. A love that never died. Fast forward 40-50 years and my guess is that the youth of today will be restoring old rice burners and reminiscing about the good old days. I understand there are exceptions and I know there are younger members that have cars older than they are but they are not the norm and their numbers are decreasing. One thing for sure, the market for what you're driving now will be a lot smaller.

When I’m dead, I won’t care what my car is worth. Until then, it’s priceless to me!

I have a friend who started taking money out of his portfolio and buying cars., 36, 37, 38 and 39 Chevy two door coupes and one is a convertible. He told me I want to have all the fun I can right now and he drives them all everywhere almost every day. He said if he runs out of money he'll sell one or more, whatever it takes. He's 72 and still has the first motorcycle he bought when he was young, 750 Honda. He has a lake house, several boats and a building full of cars, tractors and more bullshit then he will ever need. He says the day is coming and things will start to leave. Getting old can turn your icecream into ****....it may keep its color, but the taste is gone.

Yeah - the sound of a V-8 is so beautiful. I might imagine some fake exhaust sound being developed as an option on electric cars, if not already. But, as posted earlier, many I think (well me anyway) grew up with the golden age of muscle cars and maybe this infatuation will die off with us aging boomers and those still around who a tad older yet. This time is running short. My daughters and my brother's sons never got interest in cars...well my nephew had an AWD stick Subaru he beat the living **** out of until he ran it out of oil. Yes, even those rice machines need oil checks and changes. The interest isn't there, and further out is any interest with working on them. I know many who never open the hood, check the tires, etc. and rely on the dealer or oil change places to do this. I convinced my kids though how friggin important regular maintenance is and they get it done between times where I'm around having done some repairs on their cars. One lives 1200 miles away so this don't happen often. And yes, well posted, about not expecting a profit on cars we've spent tons of money & time on, and good points about where one may dump their cash.
Geez, some relish endless ocean cruises, I got talked into ONE...and never again! Group travel vacations another thing not for me: Ok today folks we're going here and there and back to here...I feel like a ******* cow being herded around dumping all sorts of money on this ****! My idea of a vacation is not knowing exactly WDF I might do one day or the next. But, hey, this is fine for some and not for others. When I spent the five days on that cruise...it bugged da **** out a me thinking what I could be doing in my garage while having an umbrella drink. Oh well, I digress...

There will be no need to “ban” anything.
Fossil fuel engines will become irrelevant on their own, just the same as any antiquated technology does.

these old cars will be seen at museums and organized events. Fuel will be available, but expensive. (Bought in drums as opposed to at a filling station)

every day commuting will be via EV’s.

You can’t stop progress. Once it’s cheaper to run EV’s, folks will do so. We are on the front end of it at present.

Instead of fearing and poo pooing it, we have a chance to get out in front of it, and lead.

Please save gas so I don’t have to I run street racing fuel in my Superbird I average less then 500 miles on my rear tires what good is having a car Like this and Not drive it the way it should be I hope it never gets wrecked per my Wild Driving If it happens For what it is insured for It could always be fixed I know most people Don’t think this way As a old buddy Of mine told me not driving the car The Way they were made to be driven is Like Marrying a virgin and saving her virginity for her second husband

right now I seriously doubt the oil industry
& the automotive industry or the parts industry
(all their trillions $$$ in lobbyists too)
neither will completely comply anytime soon
all that infrastructure & all them jobs
to convert over & build a grid that can handle it,
all of it will take decades
we can't do it yet, no matter the alleged techy BS
we don't have the electricity or the infrastructure
wind & solar isn't enough either

it's still probably some 20+ years off
if it even happens
there will be fight back & resistance big time

I remember in grammar school,
we were supposed be zooming around in flying cars by 2000
here it's 2020, still no viable flying cars
"all the (so called) 'experts, prognosticators' were all predicting it"
what happened ? (that's rhetorical not a real question)

don't believe everything you read or hear from the internet :jackoff:
or tech stuff, it's all speculations still
maybe 20+ years down the road or more

even here, there will be serious resistance to any type of mandates
it does only last till the current D)ouche Govn., executive orders are
gone when he's out of office
even then it was on new car sales, make a supply & demand for these
older cars, maybe not our muscle cars, but gasoline-powered/driven cars

by then I'll to damn old to care

I get that ‘progress’ is inevitable and have lived through many radical changes (like any of us in my age group). There was a time I didn’t have a mobile phone, had to go find a pay phone to call into the office or home, or actually use the rotary phone in my hotel room in some remote town. I had to look at paper maps to find out where I needed to go. Had a pool secretary who typed my reports sending her my Dictaphone tapes, didn’t have a computer. Later was given one to type all the reports on and never took typing class in school as never thought I needed to learn how to type. Used to go to the library to do research as Google wasn’t around yet. Recall driving hundreds of miles viewing lonely-untouched landscape and farm fields…today that are subdivisions and shopping centers. And old towns that were – ahh still old with mom & pop stores. All I can say? I consider myself so very fortunate to have had a period of life to experience this. It brings back a refreshing recollection of how it used to be despite understanding all the evolution that’s great and not so much.

Very well stated. I’m on a bunch of sites; here, ham radio, gun stuff etc...
I can’t count the times someone has said “I’m not selling my (car-gun-ham radio),I’m leaving it to my grandkids”.
Guess what, your grandkids don’t want it! It’s your hobby, it’s interesting only to you! They want the money, and can’t wait for us to croak so they can sell our **** and buy what they want. So drive your car, or sell it to someone who will actually appreciate it. When you die, your kids and grandkids can fight over the money. It’s what they want. Don’t believe me? Every one of them has already figured out what your stuff is worth. They don’t care that it’s a Hemi Charger. They care that it’s a $100k Hemi Charger. Hmmm...
Better impossible, this is your statement in action...

I agree. My stepson never had and still has no interest in cars. I have a niece that only likes the idea of what she thinks they are worth. She went to my building last Christmas talking about the Viper, and how much it cost. When she walked in she looked around and spotted the Superbird. Her first question was how much is that one worth. No, I like it or it's cool or anything else, just how much is it worth. My reasoning is it's all about the money, not any kind of application. The stepson doesn't have any appreciation of the cars, but never mentions them or even wants to look. My nephew likes as I call them rice rockets and has no taste. He drives VW Jetta. The only easy thing for me is Christmas is easy for him, because I can at least get him something car related. So for me they will all be sold hopefully before I croak. At 73 now and not being to keep them up as I could a few years back, this may be sooner than I want.

Like all things unfortunately Jerry.. they're in front of them and it's too easy. Just like airplanes, I've always had one or two so the kids could take flying lessons and none ever bit. Now when you want to move that '68 Dart...... :D
