Just pulled axle..I have Moser axles are these green bearings . Also us their a way to tell if you have a spool or a sure grip without pulling center...the way the car was hard to push seemed like rear tires were catching when turning while pushing

Well it has the damn adjustable nut..I'd imagine they are stock bearings. Should I get green bearings or no. Never have adjusted one of these.

The factory put in the nice tapered roller bearings. Way better than any ball bearing will be there. Adjusting is easy.

Doubt you have a spool with the stock bearings, but look down the axle tube with a light and tell us what you see in the center.

By looking down tube..I think its stock sure grip..I've seen round plate withered holes in it

How do you adjust end play correct..I know how to turn but but will it back itself off

You don't need a dial gauge.. you could simply use a piece of metal clamped in place and feeler gauges to set the end play.

The FSM gets you within the range of adjustment by tightening all the way to zero end play and then backing of the collar 4 notches. Tap the end of the axle, spin it and re-check (if you were using a dial indicator). I did all the steps but without the dial indicator and hoped for the best. The feeler gauges is a great idea.

ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY AGREE with the use of the Timken Tapered roller bearings in lieu of the Green bearing. The FSM shows the correct methodology and dimensions for setting the axle bearings....its easy.
