hey, yes my Family came from the Coon Rapids/ Baird/Jefferson area in the 1939 time frame, but my cousin still runs the the oldest original farmstead still in the same family in Coon Rapids Iowa today, built in 1856. And My wife comes from Council Bluffs, Iowa, from a family of farmers as well. I want to take time to thank every post, and I will get on that.
I returned from overseas in May of 74', and bought the Charger for Yes, $400 dollars in Phoenix.I came back to Omaha, and was Introduced to Mary on July 21st, we were engaged on 5 oct, my Birthday, and married dec 28th. five months total, and she still puts up with me today.
The Charger I have today I bought in May of 1985 from the original owners, who had graduated from The Univ of nebraska/Lincoln in 1968. they had gotten married, and moved to phoenix that year, and the Parents bought this car for them as a present.
it came up for sale in may 85 when the teenage son blew up the 383 engine, so The mother got mad and sold the car so the kid would not have it.
I showed up answering the newpaper ad to look at it, and at the time i owned a beautiful yellow with white top and Interior copy of the car.So the mother knew i was serious.
The mother asked What I Intended to do with it, and i said i would restore it down to the hubcaps, and keep it forever!

She said: Sold! You are the first person to give me the correct answer! Everyone else said a variety of things, mainly modify and race it.
at the time I was broke, and lied to her and told her I could afford buy it. i then left, called my Mother, and said: If you don't lend me XXXXX until I can sell the lousy Volkswagon I have for sale, I will kill myself! She promptly asked:what kind of car is it?
so Then I had two 68 chargers,,,,,,, so between 1974 and 2002 I had probably 50 different 68 or 69 models. But was able to hold on to only one.
