Remember the Bifurcated Needle?

I don't remember getting one as a kid. Have the round scar though. Born in '57. I DO remember those freaking guns though, back in the late 1970's and early 1980's. I remember the entire battalion being lined up with the lines going out the doors and around the buildings. Two med persons with a gun each hitting both shoulders behind two other med persons who wiped alcohol patches on the injection site before they shot you. BANG, shuffle, BANG, shuffle...Remember deep gashes and blood running down arms too. Not fun. Damn arms locked up for a couple of days. Couldn't even hold my wiener to piss...lol. I asked one dude why they gashed the arm so badly.
He just raised an eyebrow and handed me one of the guns. That ****** was HEAVY, and, unbalanced. He said try getting it right after hours of handling that bastard. Plus, most of the troops anticipate the shots and tense up just as the needles hit and the jerking muscle drags them around and you end up with a hole in your shoulder and a torn muscle. Good luck.

They don’t use needles like that now. Worked for many years making the machines that make these syringes at high volume. All double grind needles today.

Don't recall what the needle looked like but remember it happening including the scar AND the Dr's name. The scar is barely noticeable now that I'm almost 70!

Gives a new meaning to "scared for life "

Ghostrider 67 got THAT right!! Navy boot camp in 1982 was both arms at same time though, worst part was push-ups afterwards. Few guys dropped/passed out right after shot. Glad shots' gun vs that crazy needle.

I did boot camp in 77, prior to that I was a military brat, I'd experienced so many rounds with shots & booster shots traveling through Europe & the Middle East by the time I got to boot, it was just another day...
