JAMES "JOE" O McPHERSON
James "Joe" O. McPherson, 102, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Thorn Nursing Home after an illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 9, 2023 from Florence National Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. McPherson was born in Mullins, a son of the late John Olin McPherson and Eloise Bryant McPherson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lauren McPherson; sisters, Sylvia Harrelson, Virginia Boatwright, and Tovey Stanton. He worked at a shoe shop many years with his father before finishing his working career at Sears. Mr. McPherson was also a veteran, having served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Surviving are his brother, Bryant Melvin "Brownie" McPherson of Manning; and his good friend, Bob Henry of Marion.
Memorials may be made to Marion Presbyterian Church, PO Box 186 Marion, SC 29571.

Believe me I say this with unbridled love and respect for the Greatest Generation - because that they were. They built this country to what it once was - it has been our generation that seems bent on destroying it. This generation has taken it a long ways toward the cliffs of hell.

All the Greatest Generation built is being systematically torn down and ruined. My one and only solace is that my parents have passed and thus unable to see it. This would have destroyed them.

RIP Mr. McPherson God Speed to your final deployment.
