Virgin 68 440 HP Q?

I recently tore down a D 440 HP2 engine block casting date Sept 1 1967 that I was told was virgin when I picked it up years ago. Bore checks as standard. It has steel head gaskets that say "mopar", but it has single valve springs in the 906 heads. I was expecting to see double springs.

Did they have single valve springs on a 68 HP 440?
 
No, they had a single spring with a damper inside.

Yes, my numbers matching 440 always had single springs. Second owner from '70 confirmed that.

Yes, this is what I meant to ask... "dampner". It does not have those, which I am used to seeing on the HP 440. This is the earliest HP 440 I have ever torn down, hence the question. Thanks.

I see dampers in the pictures above.
 
Here's a 68 383 2bbl 906 iirc and a hemi spring on a 915.
The lo perf springs stand out from the abundance of winds

What is stamped on the oil pan flange near the right rear area?
