Bought an NOS 11” replacement front drum

So I had a bad front drum on my 68 roadrunner. It had been turned too thin and cracked. I found a replacement NOS drum so I jumped on it as these are getting pretty difficult to find. The studs in the hub had already been replaced with right hand studs. The drum came off pretty easily and the replacement drum basically goes on and off like a rear drum does now. Were these not meant to be an assembly? I guess all the ones from the factory were swaged to keep them an assembly, but is it ok if it is a slip fit now? I need to know if I need to do something different before putting it back together. The other side is like every other drum brake car I have worked on and the hub is mated to the drum. I have had them like that as lonh as the center of the hup is kind of tight on the hub it will be fine when tightened down.

All new vehicles have gone away from the annoying permanent assembly style on drums and rotors.

Man the old days we just drove the old studs out with a BFH and pulled in the new ones with flipping the lug nuts over add a washer and impact them in with a impact gun. Did hundreds of them that way.

I’ve been doing some brake work on my car this week and was again reminded of how weird it is to have the drums slide off the front. Never had one like that before. This is my first CA car, has me thinking that has a lot to do with this.
