I have the indy cylinder head valve covers on 906 heads. Lately I can't get the passenger side cover to spot leaking in one spot. I got the Moroso Perm align gaskets which I was told are the best gaskets for these covers. Drivers side doesn't leak. What do i need to do for the leak to stop other than not starting it or putting oil in?

The valve cover surface on the head is not always that flat. I will glue the gasket to the cover with black weather strip adhesive. Then apply a 1/8" of Black Permatex or for quicker cure time The Right Stuff. Install the cover and just finger tight the bolts. Wait and hour and hand tighten with a 1/4" drive using one hand. It doesn't have to be any tighter than that.

The Black Permatex has to cure overnight before subjecting it to oil. The Right Stuff can be placed in service right away.

Thank you. I'll try that.

Plain old, old school, cork on 906 heads! I learned that the hard way on the Bee buying $$$ gaskets just to have them weep. Cork on smooth tin Direct Connection covers and 906 heads have been leak free with no sealant. Same deal on stock covers and heads on the 340 in the Swinger.

What he said. Did the same thing , went and spent money on some more expensive gaskets only for them to leak.

Cork gaskets glue in place on the valve cover then just install onto the head. By gluing them to valve cover you know they are in the right spot and won't move .

I like to wipe down the mating surface on the heads with acetone to make sure they are clean and dry. Tighten down in an even sequence , almost like tq down a cylinder head . But just snug ! Let them sit for a night and then check them again is not bad idea either

Make sure the Moroso gasket hasn't split/cracked along the rail area. A common drawback of those gaskets.
