Anyone have the old DC 440 "recipes"?

As title says, anyone have the old direct connection builds for the 440s, where they list the bracket ET and then the parts? I have the one here for the B Engines someone sent to me

Old technology and ideas. That book must be 25 plus years old.

But does the base idea of the recipe work? The book honestly makes it sound easy peasy to run a 12 second bracket all things considered, and I can mix and match old and new, with things such as instead of getting good 906s or 915s and getting all the tools for a 3 angle valve jobs run alum heads that have been checked, with better flow even OOTB.

I dont care if the techs old if it works. Not to mention people have a lot of the older stuff and are at an age where they can't use these things, I can get a better deal on pricing and everything. Not to prey on old people or anything, just using things they can't use.

Sure it can work. But you need the full package and the driver to achieve the ET goal. That book was a sales marketing tool promoting the DC overpriced parts. None of the parts made by DC, just resourced from popular vendors.
 
I have stapled loose-leaf DC stuff from the 1970's and bound stuff from subsequent decades.

I don't recall them listing ET.

Guy who sent that photo to me said it was from the mopar performance manual from 1990.

Would you be willing to part ways with either some loose leaf DC or a bound engine manual, or post some pictures of whats listed?

I don't believe I have ever let go of any materials/books/etc in my possession.

You're only looking for 440 info?

I'll look on my shelves for the bound manual(s).

I loosely followed the 13 second B recipe.

...and the car did hang with known 13 sec cars on the street.

(Even though I had 3.55 gears vs the recommended 4.10)

The recipes work - pretty good, actually.

The all-steel wagon shown in my avatar was built around the 12 second recipe and routinely ran 12.50's.

Stock '70 440 rotating assembly, 284/484 purpleshaft, ported 906's, M1, 750 DP, "J" converter, 4.10's. Did it all on pump 91.

The recipes from Direct Connection actually worked well in the day, and still do within reason. Today's fuel makes some things obsolete unless you go with 100LL or racing fuel. I choose cams and head work from someone that knew the current science of the day and invested heavily there. Then there was the recommended things from the catalog, such as anti pump up lifters, better rod and main bolts, windage tray, bigger carburetor, etc, etc. Drivetrain wise, I fixed and improved items as I broke them.
 
I have a very nice used BB .620 mechanical cam if anyone is interested in running it. This is the newer version that does not use mushroom lifters.

How much compression you think i need to run this thing well? Im trying to keep somewhat in 93 range with aluminum heads, maybe with a partial mix of AVGAS

Also, will it clear a l2295f piston? I plan on running the l2295f and running probably milled CNC stealths which are 80cc

The parts weren't merely re-sourced, some were built to spec for the DC catalog. I remember a magazine article in the 1970s where someone at Direct Connection remarked that they were having a hard time finding a supplier for their 426 Hemi "Battleship" valve springs built to their specifications.

And while many were outsourced, I'm sure that not all were. When Chrysler had an arsenal of foundries and machine shops already up and running for their production lines, it wouldn't make sense to then start buying, say, a cylinder head or crankshaft for a Dodge Neon from an outside company.

Lol! That's about a 5500-7500 super comp cam. A bit much for what you're doing . 13.5 cr
