I have used a variety of different insecticide brands advertised to kill the fire ant queen and her mound. Disappointing results...it was like playing whack a mole.

This stuff works remarkably well and it doesn't take much to kill all signs of life at the mound.

I was powerwashing my house Monday and saw a small mound of ants. Jabbed the the wand down in it and pulled the trigger. Thirty seconds later, gone. Checked yesterday, still gone. Ozark hillbilly ants are lazy, they just leave and go file for unemployment.

That doesn't work, the queen and all the eggs & larvae are deep below the surface. All boiling water will do is kill the ants at or near the surface.
Maybe not, it works when the ants show up in my yard, unwanted weeds too. How deep does the queen live? I'd dig her up and make a special pot just for her! Yes, I have a backhoe.

When I lived in Florida, I had a fire ant issue myself. Neighbor...good ol' boy...told me to just use Grits/Cornmeal as when the Ants bring them into their hole and colony, they feed on it. Their digestive system causes the Cornmeal/Grits to swell up and then explode inside them. Even the Queen gets hit as the worker Ants feed her as she nests. Seemed to work for me...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

I've heard aspartame/artificial sweetener kills off ants, and it does indeed kill all of them at the surface. Supposedly they bring the aspartame powder down to feed the queen, which ultimately kills off the nest, but it didn't succeed when I tried it...

Pretty much what the Japs did during WW2 as a torture to the POW's....except with rice. :mob:

Besides Hornets there are actually very few things around here plant/animal/insect that will try and kill you.
It's hard to beat this part of the country this time of year.
(Although the last 7 months kinda sucked)
