Stellantis Brings The HEMI Back !!

Oh, the irony....

If they still made and sold trucks like this, I would seriously consider getting one.
Note how it is a regular cab, short bed without looking super thick and tall like they all look nowadays...

The second truck looks absolutely stupid to me. It looks like it measures four feet between the air dam and top of the hood. That is dumb as ****. Compare that to my 2007 model....

Even my truck looks tall compared to the classics....

Given this stupid trend of making the front ends more and more blunt faced and tall, how much worse can they get?
This looks great:

Sadly, the public will keep buying the ugly trucks because that is what they are selling. The manufacturers see no incentive to change their crappy styling trends if people are still buying. Yeah, the cancellation of the Hemi chased off buyers but by some accounts, today's buyers aren't so concerned with styling or even colors. If they were, you wouldn't see so many new cars in white, silver or black.
Still trying to figure out how people can afford these new trucks

Saw my first ELECTRIC Dodge Charger Stage 2 at a car show yesterday

I got to hear the fake exhaust - Oh Boy

Honestly I liked the body lines and interior

The price this young man paid even with huge discounts - OUCH

Don't see many EVs up here
haven't seen any new Chargers in 'the wild' out & about here either

I always thought this era truck was good looking.

All of the trucks today are just too big in the grille.
I have one, 2000 360 automatic 4x4 with 8' bed & factory limited slip rear. It's rusty, but I love it! By the way, this
was in the days of somewhat sanity. My Truck is a DODGE Ram! Not a separate division as they attempted to make
the brand bigger but hornswagglin the general public. They got away with raping Chrysler & few folks even noticed!

All the trucks and similar are huge nowadays, I have a Maverick truck and it’s kind of marketed as the return of mini trucks, but parked next to my Coronet or Ranchero you see for a mini it’s friggin huge.

I should whip out the tape measure and see for myself.
Maybe the measurement from the top of the wheelwell and top of hood as shown here....

Height 2.jpg

Look smaller on this generation of truck because the fenders don't rise up all the way to the lateral height of the hood?
Maybe the height up front....

Height 1.jpg

......Isn't that much different than the newer trucks?

Height 3.png

Only a tape measure would tell the truth on this.

It’s cheaper to build them taller then it is wider or longer. Just like a building lol

I had a red 2000 Sport Club Cab for 8 years. I dropped the front 2", and the rear 4". I drove it to Chryslers at Carlisle a couple of times and parked it with other nice trucks on the Fun Field, for a handy spot to bring back my swap meet finds to.
My buddy, Randy, was a salesman at the local Mercury dealership, and they took this almost new Ram in on trade for a Ford van. He called me at work and told me to come in and buy this, knowing I had been looking at trucks. This truck was pretty well loaded up, with only 10,000 miles on it. I bought it, and saved about $10,000 over buying new at the Dodge store.

It looks like the Hemi option that is returning is the mild hybrid E-Torque version, probably in an attempt to maximize mileage and squeeze down the emissions. That adds about 130 ft/lbs of bottom end torque.

It's also getting the rumbly performance tuned exhaust.

Poor visibility out the front or over the nose.
Poor visibility out the back.
Poor visibility down the sides.

The pickup truck concoctions by GM, Chevy, & Ford have possibly even worse visibility.

How about that V-8 recall of 700,000 to 800,000 GM & Chevy trucks? Heartbeat of America?

Didn’t catch the recall for the LS engines, what was it this time?

GM recalls nearly 600,000 trucks and SUVs over risk of engine failure

General Motors is recalling 597,630 of its full-size U.S. trucks and SUVs because the vehicles' V8 engines can fail during use, raising the risk of a crash.

Manufacturing defects in the connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components "can lead to engine damage and engine failure," according to documents posted Tuesday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. No warning signs are listed.

The recall comes amid an investigation by U.S. auto safety regulators following reports of engine failure in GM vehicles, including the company's best-selling Silverado. The NHTSA in January said it was investigating an estimated 877,710 vehicles after receiving 39 complaints from users of GM vehicles equipped with L87 V8 engines.

I’m pretty sure the GM fix is heavier oil. From 0-20 to 0-40 or something like that. Unless of course you’ve ejected a rod, then it’s a new engine with the different oil.
Travis..

My neighbour bought a 2025 Ram with the Hurricaine 6 in it. He says it is scary powerful, and gets great fuel mileage. I asked him to open the hood, and there was not much there that I could identify as an engine. It looked like something that Seven of Nine and the Borg would build.

I`d like to drive one , but have heard their not holding up well , elec. problems and such..
Wife just bought a new Ford, nothing in the budget for a new truck anyway . She's a Ford nut , but I have never liked any of them , their electronics SUCK !
