WTB Carter 4640SA date code close to April 69

I need a rebuildable Carter 4640SA carburetor. My manufacture date is April of 69, so a date code withing 3 to 4 months of that should work.

As I understand Cater 2 digit date codes, you have a carb body from Oct of 1968, the others appear to be April 1971, and a couple from March 66 or 76? Am I misreading these?

that would be my thoughts also, looking at the part# cross reference charts it looks like this # is a 68-69 only carb though. I'm curious if anyone knows the meaning of the SA as opposed to the S, could that be an over the counter replacement or ?? I don't have anything to offer you but, I'm also hunting a specific dated carter carb and I'm trying to better understand.
 
According to my information. 4640 was a 69 Carb. SA I think was an over the counter. Ran that on our 1985 360 B350 camper van for a while. Loved it.
Still have it. Replaced it with a 1972 340 Thermoquad.
Mileage can be up to 16 mpg US.

I've been doing a little digging around on the SA/A difference and I think you are correct that the SA is a service replacement, and an S is a assembly line carb

Yes, correct, so, the carb that he should be looking for is a 4640S, as the SA will never have a correct date that he is looking for. ALL the SA date codes will be after the 1969 production year, some by several years.

It’s original equipment on ‘69 440 with factory A/C. A lot of them were on cop cars. My GTX has the original and it runs great.

My unrestored factory A/C, one owner '69 GTX that I owned in the 90s had a scheduled build date of April '69. The carb was coded A9 4640S, January '69.
