Got rid of the mineral spirits in my Saftety Kleen vat finally....

I had a Safety Kleen washer.. Rarely used it, gave it away.. Don't miss it... When I have to work on dirty stuff I use a garden sprayer & Castrol Super Clean & my pressure washer... Most of the stuff I work on these days is already clean..

I use 142 flash solvent in my parts cleaner. It has a higher flash point over standard mineral spirits.

I always found that diesel left an oily residue on parts. Fine as long as you weren't going to paint them.

I'm a mineral spirits guy all the way. Why the change? I hate the smell of diesel, personally.
Seems the diesel here isn't so pungent these days....maybe because most of the sulfur has been removed and has that bio crap mixed in. The MS was making things 'sticky' especially if I left something in a can to soak.....and probably for too long. The diesel is cheap (3 bucks per gallon) and available just about everywhere.

I cant even imagine what Agitene and Super-Agitene cost these days. Super-Agitene was always my favorite....now I buy the stuff Tractor Supply carries.
Don't know what TS carries but for the price of the Agitene, I would look into something else!

That whole 60 plus ****…
I was fine in my 60's and so far I'm still good in my mid 70's except if I'm drinking

I'm going to try to sore an older, non Cal compliant, washer on one of the next auctions I see. There was a nice Greymills unit but it was on a 55 gal drum. Too big for me. I'll try to find one on a 30. I do see that mineral spirits is more per gallon than diesel or kerosene. Does MS throw off less fumes than the others? I for sure don't want water based. Useless as mammaries on a male pig.
Some years back I had two vats....one on a 50 gallon drum out under the carport and still have the one on a 30 gallon drum.

I use odorless mineral spirits, still stinks enough as it is

the smell of both diesel fuel and diesel exhaust make me want to puke........I have no desire for a diesel truck, and I tolerate my oil fired shop heat
I know I clicked the 'quote' button before this post but anyways....the diesel here doesn't smell like the diesel of old. Not much sulfur anymore and bio added in now. I've had my diesel pickup since around 2001 and the smell of the exhaust isn't bad to me. One thing I don't like much is the 'draft tube' which I thought was a thing of the past many many years ago. 65 was the last year on gasoline vehicles iirc? The only time I get that smell is if I'm running with the 'fresh air' button pushed and come to a stop and then it only happens when the outside air breeze is just right. What is a bit irritating is the sound of the injector pump when I have my dumb head under the hood when the engine is running. Geez, that thing is loud lol
