And the power plugs into one of those tabs.

Ok. That’s where I thought you were going. Abandoned the mechanical regulator in the fuel gauge all together. Sourced a 12VDC to 5VDC solid state regulator and wired that in. Fits nicely to the back of the metal frame. Will post a picture of the configuration

These are the Speedhut Gauges setup for '66/'67 Chargers. They're very nice high quality units that have a lifetime warranty.

Nice but still think this is nicer:

I concur. As time marches on, Good rebuildable cores are getting harder to find. I lucked up and bought an NOS fuel gauge a couple years ago for my car. Speedhut did a nice job on their gauges and looks better than the other choices on the market.

Agree with Redbeard, IMHO nothing is going to look better than the original gauges. Simple clean styling. Fantastic look when illuminated. Attempts to mimic t he styling just look like they don't belong, no matter how expensive. They just don't fit in with the styling the car.
Gauge clusters can be fixed if not working properly. Check out this link for excellent cluster restoration Home - Todd's Restorations

I was just checking out their site and didn't see anything for anything Mopar.
They have gone downhill in the last few years. You used to be able to build your own gauges, style, color, background logos, font, pointer styles, everything, not so much anymore.

After going to all the work on your gauges, you definitely want to get the RTE voltage limiter and install it before you put the cluster in your car. The original limiter that is internal to the fuel gauge is the weak link here and it get's disabled as part of installing the RTE unit. If the original mechanical limiter is defective or should go defective, it will fry the fuel, oil and temp gauge internal resistance wires wound on the gauges bi-metal strips.
