2025 15th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - I Can't Wait!!!

 Way to go, alsant - 1st place!

The points are tight at the top!

@ocdart - I think you meant July 18th for the next race.

Nice job alsant, 1st place. 64BEL is coming fast after the last 2 races.

Man Matt Smith put the tune on John Hall's bike for that final, and it paid off.

FYI, the four-round Pro qualifying at the upcoming Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals is going to be a little different than the usual schedule.
  • Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle will kick off qualifying on Friday, July 18, with their first round at 9:40pm EDT (6:40pm PDT). Neither of the nitro Pro classes will attempt to qualify at this time.
  • Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle will run their second round of qualifying starting at 11:15pm EDT (8:15pm PDT) on Friday night
  • Q3 of Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying is scheduled to start on Saturday at 6:45pm EDT (3:45pm PDT); Q4 is scheduled to start at 9:05pm EDT (6:05pm PDT)
  • Top Fuel and Funny Car are scheduled for only a single round of Friday night qualifying starting at 12:15am EDT Saturday morning (9:15pm PDT Friday night)
  • Top Fuel and Funny Car will have three rounds of Pro qualifying on Saturday currently scheduled for 3:30pm EDT (12:30pm PDT), 5:45pm EDT (2:45pm PDT), and 8:00pm EDT (5:00pm PDT)

dang still another week, wait
that's drag racing, hurry up & wait...

Finally!
After a three-week break, here's your 'Tuesday before the race' notice for the 36th annual Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals, June 18-20, at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA.
Please check the driver entries and post your picks before Pro Stock and Nitro qualifying starts so you will be eligible for all event bonus points.

As of this morning nhra.com currently shows the following entries:
11 Top Fuel
18 Funny Car
18 Pro Stock

9 Pro Stock Motorcycle

Because of the short fields in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle, I suggest you double-check to make sure all of your driver picks are racing. There have also been some no-shows at recent race events of the season. If your posted driver skips the event and you do not select a replacement prior to the start of eliminations, I will use your posted driver from the most recent completed event. Unfortunately, any replacement driver after the start of qualifying will not be eligible for any event bonus points.

The current weekend weather forecast shows:
* Friday currently shows mostly sunny with a high of 82F
* Saturday forecast is for partly cloudy with a high of 75F
* Sunday weather for Eliminations should start as cloudy and 65F changing through the day to partly cloudy and forecast high of 72F

The current television schedule for the Virginia Nationals...
* Qualifying Show 1: 10:00-11:30pm EDT (7:00pm-8:30pm PDT), Saturday, June 19 on FS1
* Qualifying Show 2: 2:30-4:30pm (11:30am-1:30pm PDT), Sunday, June 20 on FS1
* Eliminations: 4:30-7:30pm EDT (1:30-4:30pm PDT), Sunday, June 20 on FOX
All television coverage will also re-air at later times. Check www.nhra.com.

Don't miss out!

Wow low early registration for the pros categories
maybe a few locals will fill the spots

Pacific raceway used to be a huge draw, 32-64 FC or Fuelers
Pro-Stocks were big there too
bikes not so much
It's a great track facility, great air RAD a lot of conifers/trees to make O2
track is still good relatively moderate compared to Sonoma heat wise
great tarck surface & sea air O2 there also

There's not much of a west coast swing, now only 2 races,
now no Bandimere/Mile High MoPar race

Kent/Pacific Raceway
& Sonoma Sears Point/Infinity Raceway the only 2

It's a long way for those outside of the west coast, to stomach/travel in the heat
for only 2 races,
NHRA they should do a The Strip/Las Vegas, Firebird/Idaho or somewhere in Texas maybe
maybe an event/s PLANNED 'paid', for some match race/s in between
Bakerfield/Famosa &/or another Pomona race maybe, Redding (?) Samoa in Calif.
or other locations
in Oregon, Woodburn or Medford maybe
maybe Tuson or even Chandler (already a NHRA track) make it worth the trip/s,
for the people coming from all the way over on the east coast
be a killer money maker 'for teams' & the hotels, groceries & local restaurants nearby too
have some good old "paid" match races scheduled, make some $$$
stay out here/west for 4-5 weeks, somewhere west of the Rookies at a min...

the current NHRA schedule sucks ***, I know some is traditional dates,
but it's makes no damn sense, didn't matter with Pomona, they moved that...
Move some of the others dates too...

I can't wait till the next "new" track in Denver area/Bandimere Family too still
at-least it will be a sort of west coast swing once again

(PITA like me dealing with all the races on the east coast, NE, SE, Midwest
most any past the Mississippi, many are/were 2000+ - 2,500+ miles each way, some 3,000+
made it hard to justify that trip & then rush, comeback home to my businesses/work,
I did start paying 2 guys toi stay with my rig/car & I'd fly back home to take care of business
then have to fly back & $1,500 extra pay a week & hotel costs for the 2 guy
(good thing I was the owner) a lot of vacation time a week each driving/towing,
several times a year/season... I'd go down to Long Beach & get 99% of my parts...
Wasn't so bad when we had 27 tracks out here/West, in Calif. alone,
another 20-ish in other neighboring states...
There's plenty of tracks in between the Westcoast swing too
Anything past the Rookies was a huge traveling road time/expense & hassle,
it partially why most the Pro-teams have an Indy area shop now, as their base,
to be closer to 80% of the races
)

I've been talking to the wife about making a road trip next year to catch both races in Seattle and Sonoma because they are only a week apart. That will leave me only 3-4 tracks to make all of them. We might take in a baseball game in Seattle to if the schedule works out and maybe go to Sacramento and catch the A's at their temporary home there too. We're trying to make all of the MLB parks if possible.

Congratulations to 'stroked340' (FABO) for winning the 2025 Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals Top Qualifier title with an outstanding total of 30.5 bonus points. He correctly picked the #1 qualifiers in both Top Fuel and Funny Car, the #2 qualifier in Pro Stock Motorcycle and the #3 qualifier in Pro Stock.
'GTXDAN' (FBBO) was right behind with 30.0 bonus points.

More great picks!

We have 15 players again this week and 14 different driver combos made up of:
* 7 different Top Fuel drivers with one Round 1 head-to-head matchup between #4 qualifier Clay Millican (1 pick) and #9 qualifier Antron Brown (1 pick). There is also a possibility of three head-to-head matchups in Round 2 if all drivers survive.
* 4 different Funny Car drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There is a possibility of two head-to head matchups in Round 2 if all drivers survive.
* 3 different Pro Stock drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There is a possibility of one head-to-head matchup in Round 2 if both drivers survive.

* 3 different Pro Stock Motorcycle drivers. The earliest possibility of a head-to-head matchup is the semi-final Round of eliminations if both riders survive until then.

Good luck all!

During Top Fuel qualifying yesterday, the right rear slick of Shawn Reed's dragster failed causing his car to crash into both guard rails. Shawn suffered two broken ribs and injuries to his left hand that resulted in the loss of his left index finger and a pin placed in his thumb.

MSN

That sucks for Shawn, but glad it wasn't worse.

Congratulations to 'alsant' (FBBO) for winning the "Top Picker Eliminator" title for the 2025 Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals with a very nice total of 134.5 points. He picked the class winner in Pro Stock, his Pro Stock Motorcycle pick went to the final round of eliminations before losing, and both his Top Fuel and Funny Car picks fell in the second round of eliminations. His total was also helped with ET bonus points in Pro Stock and speed bonus points in both Funny Car and Pro Stock.
'memike' (FABO) was right behind with 130.0 points.
Way to go!

Here's where the bonus points were earned if you picked the right drivers:

Top Fuel
