One more time! The first event is less that a month away so it's time to start this thread so I don't forget the 2024 pre-season bonus event.
"The Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum" is back at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and will kick off the 2024 NASCAR season on Sunday, February 4, 2024. This race will run under stadium lights.

I haven't yet found a list of eligible drivers for the 2024 Clash but will post one as soon as possible. I will also post Clash qualifying and additional information.

Like last year, game scoring for the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum will work like this:
Just participate in the Busch Light Clash and pick up -2 bonus points
Pick three drivers for the main event and list them in the order you think they will finish in the race (first driver named will either win the main event or finish closest to the winner, second driver named will finish behind the first named driver but ahead of the last named driver, last named driver will finish the main event behind your other named drivers). Pick the correct finishing order for your three choices and pick up -5 bonus points

As far as the 2023 NASCAR "Pick 'Em" game.......

We're going with the same rules as the past few years and they again will stay the same all year including bonus points.

1- Pick 2 Drivers each race! (place divided by 2)
ex. 3rd and 9th place =12/2=6----your score for race

2- Bonus pick winning driver. (-5)
ex. your score (6) -5 = 1 score with bonus

3- Bonus pick 2nd place driver. (-3)
ex. your score (6) -3 = 3 score with bonus

4- Picks must be in before the drop of the green flag for each race.
ex. the sticks with green material waving in air, if no pick avg is as if you picked the last place finisher

5- No picks for 3 straight races and you will be sent to pits for the remainder of the season.
ex. out of Competition - lost your team sponsor

6- You may make your picks permanent for the entire season so you don't run the risk of getting the dreaded last-place-pick race result by forgetting to post your weekly picks. Just let me know in your initial pick post that you want your picks to be permanent for the year. Of course, you can always make a change to your permanent picks if one, or both, of your drivers gets sick, injured or loses his ride.

Let me know who is in so I can get your names on my Excel spreadsheet. 2024 is gonna be another great year!!!

Please make your picks by driver name or car number and driver name. Driver name will always take precedence over car number.
If you make your pick by car number only you're going to be locked in to that car number no matter who the driver is; and if you pick a car number not in that weeks race, you'll end up with a last place finish as your score for that car.
..............If you have any questions just ask............

I enjoy doing both the NASCAR and NHRA "Pick 'Em" games for y'all, but they take a fair amount of time.
I would like a minimum of 10 players between FABO and FBBO to make it worth it.
Please contact your FABO/FBBO buddies and get them involved!
Thanks in advance.

I will also post Clash qualifying and additional information.

Like last year, game scoring for the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum will work like this:

Pick three drivers for the main event and list them in the order you think they will finish in the race (first driver named will either win the main event or finish closest to the winner, second driver named will finish behind the first named driver but ahead of the last named driver, last named driver will finish the main event behind your other named drivers). Pick the correct finishing order for your three choices and pick up -5 bonus points

The format for the 2024 Clash at the Coliseum was finally announced yesterday and revealed several changes:
* The 2024 Clash will be a two-day show with practice/qualifying and heat races run on Saturday, February 3 in an empty Los Angeles Coliseum. There will be no fan access on Saturday. Live television coverage on Fox Sports 1.
(01/20/24 addendum: Ben Kennedy, NASCAR Sr. VP of racing development and strategy recently announced via social media that due to race fans highly vocal disapproval of closed Saturday practice/qualifying, that the Coliseum grandstands will now be open for free spectator entry on Saturday. Sunday race tickets are not required for free Saturday viewing.
* Practice/Qualifying - The field will be split into (3) practice groups, with each group receiving (3) sessions. Each competitor’s fastest lap time from their final practice session will determine the starting lineup for the heat races.
* Heat Races - Four heat races of 25 laps each with only green flag laps counted – no overtime in play. The top five from each heat race advance through to The Clash.
*
Last Chance Qualifier - Cars that do not transfer to The Clash will compete in the Last Chance Qualifier Race with their starting position determined by where they finished in their respective heat races. The LCQ race is 75 laps with only green flag laps counted – no overtime in play. The top two finishers in the LCQ will transfer to The Clash.
* Feature (The Clash) - The main event will run on Sunday, February 4, and be televised at 8:00PM EST (5:00PM PST) on Fox Sports 1. The Clash main event will feature 23 drivers competing for 150 laps with only green lag laps counted – the race must end under green. A timed break will be observed at the halfway point of the race (Lap 75).
*
Feature Lineup: “The first 22 starting spots for The Clash is set through finishing positions in the heat races and the LCQ. The 23rd and final starting spot is reserved for the driver who finished the highest in the 2023 season driver points standings who did not already transfer into The Clash.”

Thanks ocdart. Look forward to another fun season. Lock in #19 Martin Truex Jr. for pole and all races. And for the clash second is #23 and third #1. Thanks again.

So far there are only nine (9) players saying they're in for 2024.
Only two of them have posted picks for the Clash that is racing on Sunday, Feb. 4.

Come on new players! Join in!

I need to have a minimum of ten (10) players to justify putting in the time and energy to do this game.

Again, different results compared to 2022 and 2023! We had four players score the maximum amount of bonus points at 2024 Clash at the Coliseum...and here they are (two repeat max points winners from 2023):

All other players finished with -2 bonus points for playing the pre-season "Pick 'Em" game.

Contact everyone you know on both FABO and FBBO and get them to join the game and make picks for the Daytona 500. Let's get more players!

Don't forget to get your picks for the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway posted before the green flag drops at approximately 2:45 PM EST (11:45 PM PST) on Sunday, February 18.

Your Pole Pick for Daytona will need to be posted before qualifying starts at approximately 8:15PM EST (5:15PM PST) on Wednesday, February 14. Qualifying will be on Valentine's Day so get your Pole Pick posted early if you'may have other plans and won't be able to post a last-minute Pole pick.

I’m late to the show ! Please lock me in with Kyle Larson and Chris Bueshcer.

Done!
Thanks for joining the NASCAR "Pick 'Em" game Alsant!
Do you also want to "lock in" a Pole pick? You can "lock" in a Pole pick to make sure you have one each week and simply over ride your "locked" pick by posting an individual race Pole pick each week.
Let me know.

Thanks ocdart. good luck alsant. Lock in #8 busch as my second pick for the season.

Joey Logano will lead the 2024 Daytona field into Turn 1 from the Pole so...

...no congratulations or Pole pick bonus since nobody picked him

Because of the combination of the unique Daytona 500 race starting grid position process and the fact that none of the players in our "Pick 'Em" game correctly picked the Pole winner (#22 Joey Logano), the "Pole Pick" bonus is being carried over to the "Duels" running later today.
This is a second chance for your "Pole Pick" driver to pick up the -1 point bonus should they win either of the Duels.

Blue Green Vacations Duel 1 "Pole Pick" driver starting positions:
2. #5 Kyle Larson
3. #9 Chase Elliott
9. #48 Alex Bowman
14. #19 Martin Truex Jr.
Fox Sports 1 at 7:00pm EST (4:00pm PST)

Duel 1 winner: #45 Tyler Reddick

Blue Green Vacations Duel 2 "Pole Pick" driver starting positions:
2. #2 Austin Cindric
3. #24 William Byron
9. #12 Ryan Blaney
Fox Sports 1 at approximately 8:45pm EST (5:45pm PST)

Duel 2 winner: #20 Christopher Bell

No Pole Pick or Duels bonus points awarded for Daytona.

Mother Nature is letting Ricky Stenhouse Jr. keep his title of "Current Daytona 500 Champion" for one more day.
The 2024 version of The Great American Race has been postponed until Monday, February 19, due to persistent rain that is currently forecast to continue until about 4:00am tomorrow morning.
The green flag is now scheduled for 4:00pm Monday afternoon so you have until then to post any changes to your race picks.

Pretty good season-opening Daytona 500 until eight laps to go. Then all Hell broke loose and, as the announcers said, it turned into the world's fastest salvage yard.
...and after all of that, nobody picked the 2024 Daytona 500 race winner, #24 William Byron, so no race winner bonus points this week.

Congratulations to 'Back in Time' (FABO) and 'cuda20' (FABO) for correctly picking the race runner-up, #48 Alex Bowman, and picking up
-3 bonus points this week.

'Back in Time' (FABO) had the low net score for the week with 11.0 points

#9 Chase Elliott was the race leader at the end of Stage 1, #5 Kyle Larson was in 2nd.

Again, no congratulations or Pole pick bonus since nobody picked him.

Amazing 3-wide photo finish with the winning margin of 0.003 seconds!
