On the wiring harness for a 69 Charger with A/C what is this red wire used for? A test light shows that it has power when the key is turned on.

On my harness and wiring diagram, cigarette lighter.
Lighter should be hot all the time.

I can’t recall cigar lighter connector being straight with red wire. Not at least on my 74 and pretty much the same on all. Should be angled and pink wire. Hot “bat” circuit is pink, not red.
Even less if OP says is hot with key on… should be constant

Thats what I was thinking, but he's saying that's what the wiring diagram is showing.
Lighter circuit is battery hot and red in color. For sure red on the 68-70 b bodies along with most all I have seen. Pink is 12 volt hot and mostly used in dome, map, and courtesy lighting.

My bad, just checked and you are right! X1-16R
Traced the wire on diagram up to the fuse box and is interesting The red wire splices into the same fuse clip terminal of the rest of hot circuit being pink!

Now I see why I recall the cigar lighter wire being pink!
Same as the second gen arrives being red, but splices from there becoming pink to feed the rest of accs from same batt network, when on 2nd gens these two wires are spliced straight from fuse
