1970 Coronet R/T Project (Dasfusca's Car)

First time my car is out and about. Car is at Tire Corral. Front end alignment. I told them not to drive it. I don’t need anything to happen until all the gremlins are worked out.

I'm getting a Super Wawa if you haven't noticed

I started back on the Classic Auto Air. These parts have been taking up space for too long. Here is a recap of the compressor. I used the 2863216 fan with the 2806070 clutch fan with a 1/2 spacer with the small shim. Everything else I tried either hit the radiator or the compressor. This setup did the trick.

I had to take the hood latch support out to make room for the condenser. The bracket the provided was 1/4 too tall so I drilled out the welds and welded back to fit and repainted. I also had to make one of the holes on the bracket larger to accommodate the radiator bolt and touch that up.

Now I just have to mount the drier and lines and I can move to the inside.

Leave the dryer sealed... Only pull the caps when the vacuum pump is connected to the system & ready to start pulling a vacuum... Hook up all the other connections, lube the O rings, torque everything...Then when the vacuum pump is ready to run, uncap the dryer & the lines, lube those O rings, make the connections & fire up the vacuum pump..

The point is to eliminate any moisture in the system so it doesn't freeze... The dryer is the final piece of eliminating moisture, don't let it suck up moisture from the air before it can do it's job...

Got it. Uncap drier last. Thank you for that. Is everything else okay if I uncap?

Yeah, try to keep things capped to prevent crap getting inside but all the other components are simply capped, the dryer is sealed in a vacuum & when you un-cap it you'll hear vacuum sucking in the outside air....

Question... If you have both lines routed from the drivers fender, why not mount the compressor with the fittings facing the drivers side?

Never mind, The suction line still comes from the passenger side... Don't know what I was thinking... Or more like wasn't thinking...

Installing the shoddy pad from Detroit muscle. It’s amazing how many quality parts are now available for the b bodies. No one will see it. But I know it’s there.
