2025 15th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - I Can't Wait!!!

Congrats to @GTXDAN for top quialifier

away to go @alsant for top Eliminator picks

& @ocdart for +2 spots, even if he identifies as FBAO

way to go FBBO
meanwhile almost all mine went out early, tire spinners
maybe fair better in Sonoma

another low count for T/F entries in Sonoma, WTF
great air & great facility, one of the best tracks

@ocdart
against my better discretion, I'll stick with my locked in picks

good luck everyone

Way to go @alsant . Boy if I hadn't of won those qualifying points I would have fell on my ***. I thought for sure we were going to see 342 in TF. Man old grubby had that thing flying until the end. And AJ had Doug hauling *** to. Thought we would see them both in the final. I think Smoke was out classed there because they have never run a big number like those guys were. They tried and blew it up.
Glad to see Hagan back in the winners circle, he needed that.
What I thought was really amazing was Chris Bostick hitting the wall on that bike and not getting hurt. Thought for sure he would have some broken bones. Well we're off to Sonoma for next weekend, hope the weather is as good.
Good luck everybody!!!

Nice work, alsant, Dan, and oc! I took it on the chin with 1st and 2nd round losses, like Bud.

Only 11 TF and 8 bikes - holy cow.

I'm staying with my locks. Good luck everyone!

Here's your traditional 'Tuesday before the race' notice for the 36th annual Denso Sonoma NHRA Nationals presented by PowerEdge, July 25-27, at Sonoma Raceways in Sonoma, CA.
Please check the driver entries and post your picks before Pro Stock and Nitro qualifying starts so you will be eligible for all event bonus points.

As of this morning nhra.com currently shows the following entries:
11 Top Fuel
18 Funny Car
18 Pro Stock
13 Pro Stock Motorcycle

Because of the short fields in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle, I suggest you double-check to make sure all of your driver picks are racing. There have also been some no-shows at recent race events of the season. If your posted driver skips the event and you do not select a replacement prior to the start of eliminations, I will use your posted driver from the most recent completed event. Unfortunately, any replacement driver after the start of qualifying will not be eligible for any event bonus points.

Despite the short entry fields there are several drivers making their initial 2025 debuts:
* 1 Top Fuel entry is making their season debut at this event
* 1 Funny Car entry is making their season debut at this event
* 3 Pro Stock Motorcycle entries are making their season debut at this event

The current weekend weather forecast shows:
* Friday currently shows mostly sunny with a high of 69F at the start of Q1 dropping to 57F at the start of Q2
* Saturday forecast is for mostly sunny with a high of 64F at the start of Q3 going up to 69F for Q4
* Sunday weather for Eliminations should start as mostly sunny and 61F changing through the day to sunny and a forecast high of 78F

There used to be a bunch of people family operations in that area, 1 car or 1 driver teams
around Sears Point/Infinity Raceway, greater SF bay Area, especially from the North/South Bay or East Bay
that were part timers, mostly ran local stuff, Sac Raceway, Fremont/Baylands, Sears Point
or up in Oregon over in Idaho doing match races, mainly west coast, a Nat. Event here or there
T/F Morgan Marine was a reg., Frank Hawley (IIRC) was too, the Kaiser's, the Edgecombe's,
Mike Williams, Bret in F/C & a few others
really in, all the pro classes T/S, P/M, P/S, (there used to be a lot for T/S, P/M & P/S from that area)
P/SM even T/F or FC

I wonder (?) if any of them will last min. entry or not even listed as entered "yet"

good luck everyone

Sorry guys, real freaking busy. Hope I'm in on time. TF-Smoke, FC-Fast Jack, PS-Greg Anderson, PSM-Matt Smith.....good luck everyone!

Got your Sonoma picks in time.
Do you want to 'lock' these (or something different) for anytime you might be too busy in the future? You can always 'unlock' to post different picks for a single event. Anytime you might post different picks for a single event your picks revert back to the 'locked' picks for future races unless you post instructions otherwise.

Wow 343.16 makes you wonder how far will they let them go before they slow them down again. They were 304.94 at 660. The interview they showed with her she was pumped up and ready to go fast. Another thing that I found strange was there was only one bike (R Gadson) that ran 200.

During the Q1 qualifying telecast of PSM, they said the bikes were running directly into a headwind. NHRA.com shows Richard Gadson ran 200.17 in Q1.
I don't know if that was still the case in Q2. Both Matt Smith (200.26) and Richard Gadson (200.77) topped 200mph in Q2.

Congratulations to 'johnnycuda' (FABO) for winning the 2025 Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals Top Qualifier title with an outstanding total of 30.0 bonus points. He correctly picked the #1 qualifier in Top Fuel, the #2 qualifiers in both Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle, and the #3 qualifier in Funny Car.
'TT5.9mag' (FABO) was right behind with 29.0 bonus points.
'Outlawd' was the highest FBBO qualifier with 28.0 bonus points.

More great picks!

We have 15 players again this week and 13 different driver combos made up of:
* 7 different Top Fuel drivers with two Round 1 head-to-head matchups. One between #1 qualifier Brittany Force (4 picks) and #10 qualifier Shawn Langdon (1 pick), and the other between #3 qualifier Clay Millican (1 pick) and #8 qualifier Justin Ashley (1 pick). There is also a possibility of two head-to-head matchups in Round 2 if all drivers survive.
* 4 different Funny Car drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. The earliest possibility of a head-to head matchup is in the semi-Final round of eliminations if all drivers survive.
* 3 different Pro Stock drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There earliest possibility of a head-to-head matchup is in the semi-Final round if both drivers survive.

* 3 different Pro Stock Motorcycle drivers. All are in the same half of the bracket. The earliest possibility of a head-to-head matchup is the Round 2 of eliminations if both riders survive until then.

Good luck all!

Congratulations to 'TT5.9mag' (FABO) for winning the "Top Picker Eliminator" title for the 2025 Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals with an outstanding total of 159.0 points. He picked the class winner in Funny Car, his Pro Stock Motorcycle pick went to the final round of eliminations before losing, his Pro Stock pick lost in the semi-final round of eliminations, and his Top Fuel pick fell in the opening elimination round. His total was also helped with ET bonus points in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle, and speed bonus points in Funny Car. He was the only player to pick Brittany Force in Top Fuel so he also picked up National Record speed bonus points.
'GTXDAN' (FBBO) and 'stroked340' (FABO) were right behind with 147.5 points.
Way to go!

Here's where the bonus points were earned if you picked the right drivers:

Top Fuel
E.T. - Brittany Force, 3.645 during qualifying
Speed - Brittany Force, 343.16 (new National Record) during qualifying

Funny Car
E.T. - Austin Prock, 3.833 during Round 1 of eliminations

Speed - Aaron Stanfield, 211.96 during qualifying

Pro Stock Motorcycle

Here are the game point standings after the 12th event of the 2025 season:
1367.5 - alsant (FBBO) no change in the point standings
1362.0 - stroked340 (FABO) no change

1048.5 - Outlawd (FBBO) no change
804.0 - Nick2317 (FBBO) no change
690.0 - MomsDuster (FABO) no change

Remember, the game points will reset after the U.S. Nationals according to the same protocol used since 2022. I will post the specific point reset protocol and the special game rules for the 2025 "Countdown" just prior to the U.S. Nationals.
It looks like the reset points are going to be closer than ever.
Also remember that the game points for the U.S. Nationals will be "points-and-a-half" with 15 points awarded for each elimination round win., This has always resulted in a lot of position change.

We get a break because the next race event of the 2025 NHRA season is the 43rd annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceways in Brainerd, MN, scheduled for August 14-17.

As of this morning, nhra.com currently shows the following entries:
11 Top Fuel
16 Funny Car
17 Pro Stock

Pro Stock Motorcycle will not compete at this event.

As always, please check to verify your picks are participating before posting your picks.

GOOD LUCK!

congrats to @Outlawd for the qualifiers picks

congrats to @GTXDAN for the eliminators picks

mineshaft air there, not too hot, relatively great track
Prock going 340+ & Force going 343+

mine -1
Anderson in P/S went out early
(I was surprised, bad tire shake, whole KB/Titan team went out relatively early)
Herrara in P/SM went out early too
(brain fart on the starting line)

got a couple into later rounds,
Brown in T/F was sort of a surprise (he's not been good of late)
Prock in F/C wasn't really a shock

I think it's time for me to do a change,
I rode them horses till they 'bucked me off'
I'll sort it out by the time to post next race
probably change my T/F & P/SM picks

3.59et @ 350mph, it's coming sooner or later
NHRA (for insurance reasons) they'll restrict RPM (it's at 8,500 now IIRC)
or mandate gear ratios
or put more weight on them
or something to slow them down

Pro-stock is limited to 10,000 (or is it 10,500 ?) IIRC,
there were guys going near 12k rpm, in mineshaft air, with a lil' shorter tires prior
all of them are all on the rev-limiter, right at crossing the line now
they are barely running what ET/MPH they did with
carbs/split dominators before they went to EFI mandate,
it's taken them years to get back to that ET/Speed of the carbs era
