Jeez....sure looks like retirement at 65 may not have been that common back then. Honestly looked like they had decent jobs....hard to walk away from good money.

Love what you do, you never work a day in your life. I replaced a guy at an electrical parts sales house a few years ago, they forced him to retire, at 82 he was still kicking !

Not complaining, as I have very much to be grateful for, but I have been in the concert business 52 years, always was my own boss, looked forward to going to work every single day, traveled the world, and worked with a lot of interesting people. Had 17 semi's of equipment, and then covid hit, and did 2 concerts in next 4 years and decided it was time to quit, in good health, until out of the blue, 7 weeks ago that all changed.
Enjoy every day, there are no guarantees.

I didn’t think you were complaining, I was just stating some people retire as soon as they can, some people just keep going.

That sounds like it was a fun job!

I think people just looked older back then.

no. thats from a guy that wanted me to price/buy it...lol
guy did a sweet job tho.

Story I heard is a bit different. Virgil left Chrysler AFTER the initial design of the 62 Dart, before production, Chrysler heard/misinterpreted some false info that GM was ready to offer a midsize car, and Chrysler panicked and according to some butchered Virgil's original design offering in a scramble, and accounts for some of the odd proportions that accounts for the Darts odd look, that some of us love. It's narrowness to be midsize is what stands out to me. I have no way to debunk or confirm any of these stories, other than Virgil was long gone design wise when the 62 Darts hit the sales floor.
I would suggest one thing about my understanding is, by the time sales numbers showed a poor result for the 62 models, and IF Virgil had any input with Chrysler when 62's were entering the sales floor, there would be at least token in not more Virgil design nuances in the 63's, and I submit there is none, and designs in that era were always a year at the least in advance in formulating.

What I posted is probably someone's interpretation of what took place. I remember reading several articles that were closer to what you're saying.

Seems there was something about Virgil having a heart attack during the early design work and the young designers took over. I'd have to look that up again.

My guess is nobody wanted to take responsibility for the current failure and in turn failed to take responsibility for the future notoriety.

Soo.. drove to work today... New front tires made a massive difference in the ride.. Still need to find a cheap pair of 9" dog dishes.. everyone hates the red front rims, dishes will help a ton (saw someone else here with black/red with dishes)

P.S. the fronts are 215/75/15 and clear pretty well.. they are supposed to be 27.7" diameter, i could probably go 28.25ish. but good enough.. And i need a sunny day.. Red in clouds just doesn't work.
