Hey there.

I got a 67 coronet with a 440 in it. Has hooker headers on it. They rattle off the torsion bars and am wondering has anyone been successful on pulling just the headers to dent them? I did not install or do this build. So just looking if someone has installed those headers without pulling heads or engine.

Cheers

Which side is rattling? Just a guess but you may have to raise it off the motor mount to loosen the header and move it enough to make some clearance dings.

They need to be dented in a little, i bet its rattling off the torsion bar.

Let me guess, there’s a tube hitting the driver’s side t-bar.

You can remove the header without pulling the engine, it’s a pain in the *** but very do-able. My TTI’s were too close for comfort on the driver’s side, in the same spot that my Hookers actually touched the t-bar. I ran a heavy duty ratchet strap around the collector and the opposite side t-bar. I cranked it up until the collector was almost touching the trans. When I released the strap it bent the tubes enough to move them a half inch from the t-bar. I would suggest trying that first, because it’s 10x easier than pulling the header. The TTI headers use a heavier gauge tubing so the Hookers should bend pretty easily.

Park next to a tree, wrap a ratchet strap around the tree, and the collector. Pull in the direction of more clearance. I have adjusted my hookers with ratchet straps and floor jack under the collectors. Oh, and a hammer.
Dang. Black sheep tree'd me!

If you do end up having to remove the header. Take it out from under the car. Its a ton easier than trying to take it out the top.

That is a fantastic idea. Thank you. I will definitely be trying that before removing the headers. Did you heat them up at all?
