I know I know...This is supposed to be a MOPAR site, but hey...The muscle car era wasn't all just about our Mopars. I really like this one and would jump on it in a NY Minute...cr8crshr/Bill    :usflag: :usflag: :usflag:

Guy up the block from us when I was young had one of these exact model years; his was burgundy.
I was attracted to the flip-ups and that side stripe. Seriously sharp car, even after he did the usual
air shocks/traction bars/fat mags treatment to it.

I’m not so much into the Fords or Mercs, but I’d love a ‘68 or ‘69 Hurst Olds or ‘70 1/2 T/A.

I'm a fan and owned Ford, Chevy and Buick. I moved to the Chrysler family when I realized all the others were just too easy to work on with all the repro parts avail so I switched to 72 Charger, 68 Sport Fury and a 38 Nash for the challenge.

From personal experience back in the day, it seems they were always a rot-bucket piece of garbage. It seems the model improved with the body-on-frame design in the following 72-on years. I had one, it was a comfortable slug.

Styling is ok to me. Not a bad looking car, but it would look better without the drag-inducing hood tumor, side door protection trim, and color gradient side applique. Different tailpipe extensions and different location for them would improve the looks. Rocker panel and rear window louvers look good.

A coworker had one. It was a wallowy boat compared to my '71 Satellite. I recall he later ran the boat aground and replaced it with a Mustang. He was hard core Ford.

Nice looking car; I suppose I could accept it if it was for free! All my money is for Mopars only! It always has been. I have never owned anything but Mopars all my life. I realized long ago that there is only so much my brain can handle, so staying in one world always feels much more familiar & comfortable. Something outside the Mopar world, however exotic, just doesn't move me like the Chrysler made vehicles I have owned my whole adult life!
It's a tuff act to follow as my first car, (A 65 Dart), cost me $300.00 and went past the 300,000-mile mark!
In fact, I use pet names for some of the better-known brands, like Mershitees & Bowel Movement Wonders! LOL!

Depends on how much $. The 1971 351C is the baddest of the bad *** 351’s. Most definitely a desirable car.

The beauty of a car is in the eye of the beholder, always will be and that's a good thing. I agree with wayne, I don't do a lot strips and doodads all over a car, one color, simple and sinister, leave the hot wheels at home. I've owned a few different cars, by different car makers. My loyalty to Chrysler started in 86 and is only really extended to me buying new cars. I've owned many cars and won't apologize for all the other makes that I've owned, or worked on. My mother owned a 73 Torino and Theresa owned a 71 351c Cougar XR7, which she gave to me after we bought her a new car a year into dating. The bodies started to rot off long before the engines ever gave up. Parts and the availability of them made most cars more fun to work on when my son and his friends came along, bottom line. My 65 Coronet has needed a new front end under it since I was run off the road awhile back, it's a bastard car, basically a one year car for a lot of its parts. I won't go back stock and it's nothing 10,000 dollars won't fix to make it handle like a 240Z, Saleen or a Viper. Surgery in October. I'm not getting rid of it, Theresa gave it to me. It's a loyalty thing......

Nah.
Mercury made a nicer car:

And it came with the 429SCJ.
In general, Mercury had better build quality then the Fords. Everything just fit better overall and was "tighter"/more solid in the interior etc.
People put the sequential turn signal kits in the back.
The nose cone is a love/hate type thing, It is unique and gives the car character, I don't hate it but it is not my favorite feature of the car. Then again, I like the "pointy" Pontiacs of the 1970's too so to each their own.
These were fast cars back in the day.
This is probably the only Ford I would like to own anymore at this point.

Well, maybe a Marauder X100
These are pretty rare though and look kinda silly in typical bright colors of the era, but in black they were ahead of their time.
