So, are you a huge fan of four-wide drag racing?
If you are then you're in for a disappointment next year since there is only a single four-wide event on the 2026 NHRA calendar. zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, NC, is the only four-wide event on the 2026 schedule with the 16th annual 4-Wide Nationals slated for April 24-26.
Both zMAX and The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will only have one national event rather than two next year.
Replacing them are two new national event venues:
- South Georgia Motorsports Park, Adel, GA, will host the NHRA Southern Nationals on May 1-3
- Maryland International Raceway, Mechanicsville, MD, will host the inaugural NHRA Potomac Nationals on May 29-31
Here is the 2026 NHRA schedule so you can plan ahead:

Back to back new events in May.
I don't hate it...
I'd like 1 a week the whole season, planned out right
go from track to track region, move to another region, same thing
then move to the other closer/closest (?) regions
(
NHRA Spring Nationals has been in 3-4 (?) different tracks,
Detroit, National Trail, Houston (the best) & St. Louis, maybe
it should be revived & back on the schedule ? )
Southern Nationals used to be Houston too IIRC (no Nat. events now)
then moved to Charlette/Concord NC I think
finally moved & was closed up at Atlanta (now sch. to be closed as a racetrack 2025)...
Their South Georgia MS Park, web page lists it as Cook, Georgia south of Adel
I'm not a huge fan of 4 wide either
I'd dig it if they had a 32 or 64 cars/bikes fields, like good-old days
but they can barely even get 'regularly', dependably full fields
of even 16 participants for each pro-class now
should be interesting
IMHFO, the bad part is crossing the whole country going to
after racing all the way over at Gators/Gainsville Fl.
after that to Pheonix/Chandler Az. Firebird,
then *Pomona & then all the way back east 'again'
to *North Carolina

, then dow south to Ga,
that's some crazy travel, they really need to
schedule events closer & traveling to-or from, back east...
nothing planned in between them *2
Vegas & then Dallas maybe ?, would be smarter/better (or some other southern tracks)
Vegas (even Dallas Motorplex) should have 2 events,
even if not 4 wide's (in Vegas)
make it worth the hauls back & forth (especially for west coasters)
The Gators being 1st race now, & prior a Palm Beach Pro's warm-up/tune-up
That's a
nucken' futs haul to do, serious $$$ off the budget just for transports
from all the way southeast
all the way to the southwest (Pomona west coast & even Firebird, SW)
back to all the way east (NC east coast), then southeast again (Ga)
that schedule is a ball buster for travel,
even from Indy where most pro teams are now
someone needs to do some logistics, use some common sense
we are so far away from the old traditional dates/events now
I can't wait till Denver area has another 'west coast swing'
in the middle of the country/'Rockies' track again too
OK off my soapbox again
